In Owen's case yes. If Martins is offered a big pay rise to move south where lots of his buddies probably live, who's to say? Owen isn't going to move to West Ham or Man City, not in a million years. He wants a move to a CL club. Same goes for Martins i think, if he was to leave he would want a step up probably to a club in Italy, also he seems alot more committed than Owen.

How could Butt possibly not be a candidate. Personally i don't see why he would be a candidate. He basically shares all the weaknesses that the other 3 have, he's too quiet like Given, he's too rash and prone to the odd mistake like Taylor, and his place in the team isn't assured like Solano. Not a good candidate IMO.

Out of the players already here i'd say it's between Given, Taylor, and Solano. I'd wait to see who we bring in first though before coming to a decision.

He's not an out and out DM like a Makelele, he can carry the ball forward and can pass and shoot. And for a pork and cheeser he is surprisingly stong, Viana he is not - he's reasonably big and has proved he can handle the phyiscal side of the premiership at Pompey and Everton this season. Perfect player to partner Barton IMO.

Zenit signed him for some massive fee a few months ago, would've been a good signing from what i saw of him. Manuel Fernandes is the obvious choice, if Ashley wants to invest in the team at some point this is who he should look at first.

Butt isn't a leader in any way, why on earth would he be a good option!? You can't just throw the armband at someone after 1 good season, Parker is living proof of that.
