He then backs it up by dribbling it straight out. Fantastic talent Deulofeu is though.

Rubbish article. Harsh. It's on point to a degree, but fails to make reference to the important fact that Colback can't operate as a holding player by himself because he isn't good enough basically. It's creating a false image of him as a successful tackler when in reality he's too slow to close down effectively when the opponent has any space. The rest of it I could even put up with such as the safe passing. I actually think he's quite good on the ball other than he slows the game down sometimes while he decides where to pass (usually backwards). I don't know if you ever saw Paul Bracewell when he used to play for Everton, but he was everything that Colback should be. Just played it simple and recycled the ball quickly, but alongside Peter Reid he could shut down the opposition midfield in an instant. They wouldn't be jogging around the centre circle watching the opposition string together nice passing triangles that's for sure. His closing down is absolute shite like, fully agree. Never saw Bracewell but the description you give sounds spot on. Anita was much better at this vs Liverpool, the tackle where he left his foot in on one of their players (Allen?) was one of the most pleased I'd been with him since he joined us. That sounds stupid, but we need him to be a zippy, committed ball winner. Back to Colback, he looks a lot better vs the bigger sides where his job is more simple (no real creative responsibility) and he has less ground to cover because we naturally sit deeper. Vs the smaller sides he sees a lot more of the ball and doesn't do a great deal with it, plus he gets caught out on the counter more often.

I made the point a few weeks ago that he's a very reactive defender, certainly compared to Janmaat on the other side. Hopefully he can build on Sunday anyway, much like the rest of the team. Still utter gash in possession mind.

Where have they been playing him?
-
Get in, fuck off Pardew. Negative cunt.
-
Understandably was rather rusty, but good to see him get some game time. De Jong behind Ayoze could be a nice partnership in certain games.
-
Yeah you're right. That's bollocks In your face Lenny! we didn't play hoofball all game, man. When I say straight out of the Pardew handbook, I mean compared to the way we played during the home wins over Chelsea and Liverpool during his time here. Not the turdball employed against the likes of Reading at home when he seemed permanently confused as to why we had so much of the ball.
-
For once Anita was better than him yesterday. Vurn actually got stuck in which was a nice change.
-
It was a performance today straight out of the Pardew handbook in terms of style being defend, defend, defend, sucker punch. That style also suits the majority of our squad pretty handily, which of course is down to Mr Carr. With that said, i'm not knocking McClaren one bit for it, as long as it doesn't become the epitome of his reign here. Very happy with that tonight, beating Liverpool just never gets old.
-
Yeah, you're probably right with the ex player thing. Whilst I stuck up for McClaren in the summer, it was the Vieira link that really got me excited.

don't think anyone is expecting us to get someone of klopp's character but if we went and appointed someone within the motivational and tactical ranges of mcclaren (at zero apparently) and klopp then we'd be able to steer ourselves clear of relegation mcclaren is the wrong man at the wrong club at the wrong time sadly, it's never going to work, might as well call it now - if he gets half new team he might manage to keep us up, maybe, but we'll be back here again sooner rather than later Who though? The whole thing stinks at this stage. Someone who was widely seen as a relative managerial coup for us has been appointed by Villa and looks like he has been unable to change a thing. Maybe time will prove me wrong on that one, but once the core stinks it takes miracles to overcome that. You either get an inspirational figure like a Klopp, or even a Pulis (although obviously very different in style), or you go down.
-
It's pointless looking at what Klopp has done, he's one of the best managers on the planet. We are not going to get someone anywhere near his quality in our current state. You put a good manager in a shit situation, he will still do shit. Countless examples. Best thing we can do is get relegated, get shot of Ashley, appoint a Klopp disciple and go on from there.
-
CB is the biggest priority followed closely by CM. It's the spine that stinks.

Is this a serious question? England has a football structure far deeper than any in world football and it should be kept that way as much as possible. If "moving with the times" means getting more money into the hands of the Premier League clubs and less to the hundreds of others down the pyramid, then I'll stick to being a dinosaur. Absolutely.
-
Last seen in England 4 years ago getting Barnet relegated to the 5th tier. That would be low even for us.
-
Jonas has guts and heart and he cares. All the things that we often dismiss as secondary to pure ability, but right now give me a team of battlers anyday compared to the current lot.
-
As a club we need to burn it all down and start again.
-
Glad he's back, but just because he isn't the problem doesn't mean he's the solution!
-
I hope he told them all some home truths. They need some hairdryer treatment, have done for fucking ages. Too much of Pardew's excuse logic and accepting the fact that 17th place is probably okay.
-
I hate the way these cowards given these empty, meaningless, token interviews. As if he gives a shit man, rather be in the casino or trying to add to his collection of wives.
-
If any so called 'better club' is stupid enough to sign this mercenary cunt, they'll quickly be in for a series of weak and lazy performances. As if anyone actually wants him anyway, there's a reason he's whoring himself out to any mong with a pen.
-
We need to try as hard as we can to find someone who will set the team up exactly like Diego Simeone does with Atleti. That attitude, energy and passion is what is missing. Need to hold these wankers like Sissoko accountable.

The media will turn on SMC soon. For whatever reason all those journo cunts loved Pardew, they certainly don't love SMC.
