I'm not sure that matters much any more. It could cost his club 15 Million come the summer if he stays at WBA. I appreciate that's a drop in the ocean should he score the goals to keep us up and send WBA down but, if that happens WBA need to turn turbo shit and for either Sunderland or Norwich to put in some great performances. We should improve whether we get Berahino or not.

No disrespect intended to Stoke, but I'd pick us over Stoke everyday of the week and I'd be pretty pissed off if my current club said you can go to Stoke but not Newcastle. Of course, if Spurs come in I'd go there instead. In fact if I was left with only going to Stoke I'd sit on the WBA bench and go to Spurs in the summer for a knock down fee. That reads pretty harsh on Stoke but I could easily see him playing up after a year or two there agitating for a move.

Agree that if this comes off that we'll be selling someone tmrw. This also sounds like the surprise we were promised, a bid of 21 Million just isn't us. They'll ask for more and we should tell them where to go, his value will drop massively after this window and he'll be murder in their dressing room

If Swansea are prepared to sell him to a relegation rival we shouldn't touch him with a barge pole. Shelvey was different, Swansea clearly had to offload and he wanted to come here. You don't sell goal scorers to your rivals.

If ever the money trail should be investigated on a transfer it should be this one.

Bloke I know who is a little more out of the loop now reckons Gomis is a goer - hope he's wrong but he did tell me about Townsend quite a while back. He's still waiting for the "shock" that was mentioned early on in the window.

Home game to come. Alta, who is that player in your profile pic? He/ she appears to have breasts. [emoji38]It's the toon's only--as yet acknowledged--transginger player; we were very progressive in 1990... not really (on both counts). Though you're right he does look like he's got tits, weird tits, but tits none-the-less! It's actually Billy Askew, nee offence Billy (on slim chance the shocking news reaches you...) but he personifies my personal low point supporting Newcastle: unexpected defeat in play-off game at SJH to those from the dark place. Had my young hopes (on full deluded-tilt) set on tricky-winger-type local-lad to turn them inside out ... oh...well...it wasn't good...and it didn't end well. Transginger Never heard of him but thanks for the info. Thought he might have been Colback's dad. He made Colback look like a 1970 Beckenbauer. You're fortunate not to have seen him. Was this Ossie Ardiles era? Before, Jim Smith iirc. We had some talent back then. I think Hull beat us in the cup and we decided Askew was the man.

Gomis ain't the answer and I've no faith that Gayle would be a regular goal scorer. I'd pass on both of them tbh.

It looked out at first sight. Having said that, the linesman didnt have a clear view.

I don't see how Remy would fit into Leicester's starting 11, they are all about teamwork and effort. He'd be spending most of his time on the bench. Leicester really don't want to upset the apple cart, Remy would be a risk.

Dear me, we should have asked the ref to stop the game after their 5th. Looks like their lot took it a lot more serious than our lot, shocking really. Bet Harper was wondering wtf was going on.

Just as well the Mackems won at Swansea. There's a gap starting to appear and are a good bet to lose 3 of the next 4 with no guarantee of anything from the other. We slept walked into relegation last time and are doing an even better job of it this time around. Sign a goal scorer, now, it's almost criminal that we haven't already.
-
We fail to score again, have a CF who doesn't look like he's a finisher and Charlie Austin scores the winner at Old Trafford minutes after coming on. You'd hope Mike would get the message. We need a goal scorer and especially in away games where you don't expect to dominate chances need to be buried by your CF. There's a reason why Gini hasn't scored away from home and there's a reason why we've only scored 5 (is that right) away all season. We don't have a goal scorer.

6 shots on target all game 6 goals

Ffs why shouldn't he sign for them? Good luck to him, he seems a good lad, he's hardly left us at the height of his career and gone straight there. If he's in goal when they play us I for one will warmly applaud him.

Waiting for a kicker from us.

Colo has been decent in the last few games but has put in some awful performances earlier in the season. There's no comparison between him and Woodgate ability-wise. Woodgate is easily the best central defender we have had in my living memory (which goes back to Moncur). Crying shame how his career panned out, he was more or less knackered by the time he left us.
-
He's a centre forward who has no pace and isn't a natural finisher. That's not a good combination, I like him as a trier but, he's not going to get the goals we need if we are to be any good.
-
Brilliant first half, just shows what happens when you can see and pick a pass from deep and play it forward more than 10 yards. If Colback and Anita ever get picked ahead of him when he's available, I'm done.

From The Guardian just now: Newcastle’s Cheick Tioté agrees personal terms with Shanghai Shenhua • Midfielder set to complete £8m deal next week • Ivory Coast international expected to earn £70,000 a week
-
I was told we'd agreed a fee some time ago so this has been ongoing for a good while now and I'd be surprised if we didn't now sign him.
-
No surprise if true. Bonkers/ Dodgy looking transfer in the first place, If I were Ashley I'd be looking closely at how and why it came about.
-
When we got back to 2-2 and had Man U rocking, instead of continuing to stand in the technical area egging his players on, he retreated to the dug out and we lost impetuous. He made some brave subs but he had little to lose and when we had the chance to go for the kill he sat down. He should have been acting like a loon.
-
Btw I'd hope by signing Shelvey we'd bench both Colback and Anita.
