The 2nd goal was perhaps a bigger overall issue. Hall got drawn to the ball, Woltemade’s positioning showed his inexperience in the position and Elanga was almost Shelvey like in his attempt to get close to O’Reilly. It was a great cross but we regularly give up chances like this to City.

As the ball wasn’t in play when Burn was pushed all the ref could have done was delay the taking of the free kick if he’d seen it. Teams regularly push players into offside positions as a kick is about to be taken, do it once the ball is in play you can and will get penalised. Silva could have gone, they got some favourable decisions, Hall was clearly unimpressed. The one that probably got me most was when a City player was miles offside, the Lino played on maybe 2 phases before flagging leaving the commentators questioning where the offside was. In the 2nd half the same Lino immediately flagged Willock (?) on a very marginal decision where Willock would have been in behind. It’s was the definition of letting play on and let VAR do its job. Commentator simply said that the Lino must have been right in line….,infallible.

Whoever did their reports on how we play and what tactics/ formation to use wants a bit of word after that 1st half. Suicide stuff.

They’d have been drawing the VAR horizontal and vertical lines on the Burn off-side call. Marginal if at all and not a big error, it’s actually an example of what some want VAR to stay away from to keep the game flowing. Personally, I’m in favour of semi-automated calls but offside is looked at from the point of the body that contacts the ball or interferes.

Journalist on Sky this morning arguing the officials getting it wrong was just like a player blazing a shot into the stands. Accept it and move on. Shame you can’t sub the official during a match when they’re having a shocker. Jackie somebody or other, she also called the offside marginal. I was at the Trelford Mills game; it was like he was goading the fans. They were arguably subjective decisions he made, last night the offside and handball were just fact, no subjectivity. Last night was worse. Just a point on the Bizot sending off, put an outfield shirt on him and he makes that tackle, with the keeper still in nets, I’d be expecting a sending off for dangerous play. Being the keeper isn’t a defence for a knee high, flying tackle, with no attempt to get the ball.

How about changing the rule to whether the part of the body that touches the ball is offside? If it’s interference then currently rules apply.

There's games when you play very average and a goal scorer gets you out of the shit. We no longer have that.

Wissa’s work rate is terrible, he hardly ever puts any pressure on the ball.
