  1. Exactly, unless he really thinks the fans are against him and theres no way back he might go to city, and i guess if their 5th+ in Jan its possible. We seriously shouldn't sell him... unless a) its certain he just isnt going to be fit enough or b) we have a equal/better replacement lined up who's younger. a) is possible but b) - there arent many strikers out there equal or better than Owen are there? and would they come here with a 50/50 shot at Europe in Jan?
  2. Thats the issue, it seems Owen thinks there are a lot of people against him when there isnt.
  3. Good we're looking to the future His name will go well with the "bang and the dirt is gone" thats someones sig
  4. bluegeordie you make outstandingly good posts  Btw i agree
  5. The majority of this was bound to happen and for the most part i think its media hype, but the part we didnt need, as a club was the possiblilty that Owen is upset (and rightly so) with the booing at the match, at the possibilty the fans of his club are against him. I don't know exactly who it was at, and theres debate about it, but booing in that situation is simply not a good idea. We could have Martins thinking it was at him, Sam thinking the same, and worst of all Owen could think (which theres evidence he does) that some fans at SJP were booing him coming on. None of these possibilities do anything other than hurt the club as a unit. If we're gonna get back to where we want as a club we need players like michael owen, sure people say there are others out there as good, but we have him here at the club now, he HAS said that he is happy to be here, wants to play for Newcastle, and yet it seems some still arent happy. Michael Owen is world class, he's here, settled with kids. We cant afford to let him leave because he thinks the fans are against him, when its such a minority. Yes, he does "owe" us some performances, but he's said himself he wants to perform. This is the worst part of the current debate, the conflict that we just didnt need. I for one with be absolutely gutted if he feels we're against him and he leaves, the frustration felt by some is very understandable, but i still don't think its his fault, give him a chance, but wait we've already given him plenty, ok give him one last chance. If he comes back fit for the spurs game he needs a big reception, he needs to feel he's wanted and he's got an equal platform to perform for the club, unless he feels he is given that chance (when he's fit), it'll be game over.
  6. Steam has started on NCW Are there any Aussies on here that know whats going on with Foxsports??
  7. FAR FAR FAR too early to tell where people are going to finish. I still expect Tottenham to be in the Top 6 come the end of the season. On Saturday we were 3 points off 2nd. We didn't get those points and now we're 9th. That could and probably will all change come next weekend. Easy does it, i said MORE LIKELY, not we will defintely finish there...
  8. We should have atleast 4 more points on the table at this stage, i think if we had of picked up those points we would be a serious top 6 contention but now top 10 seems more likely. If we are going to turn it around and challenge a few, realistic, changes should be made when they can. Have one of Butt/Smith/Geremi in midfield, have Barton in there as much as possible, move Zog up into a proper wing position, get Enrique embedded in the first XI, test Emre in a creative role, buy an Elano type player in January. If Sam doesn't make changes similar to that i'll be left asking why...

    Team Spirit.

I think all the players BS has bought should have a positive effect on the team spirit. They are all professionals, sure JB has a checkered history but i have a feeling he will be here for a long time if things go well, he certainly has passion on the pitch. From last season, we can certainly see the value of team spirit and passion, makes players go that extra mile. You might disagree, but players like Gerrard have that passion, and its what can set him above the rest in nasty situations. From what we have heard this season the team spirit and confidence seems to be great, a few wins and it'll soar. Faith in the manager is also very important, and the contrast from now to 4 months ago is amazing.

    Steven Taylor

If we sold him... I'd be speechless. Utterly, totally, completely.
  19. I see what you mean but “Peter is in too much pain to be able to examine the knee and find out the extent of the damage,” I wouldnt wish that on anyone tbh.
  20. I'm guessing BS wont just buy someone for the sake of it, so only previous targets will be considered. So potentially: Faye RB Creative Mid Nobby out My punt: RB and noone else in/out But i want as many quality players as possible, and as few as possible out...
  21. Both systems have their merits, but our best players upfront, where the business has to happen arent suited to it. Michael Owen is a proven scorer, so is Viduka, Martins has potential aswell. Imo: Owen wont change and we cant afford not to utilise him Martins will achieve his best playing alongside someone and receiving ball from wingers Viduka doesnt perform (other than solo moments of brilliance) in a 443. Look at his games for Australia, has a shocking record for someone of his quality, and on most recent occassions has been the lone striker up front, and it hasnt worked.. In a 442 we get more attack overall - 2 pairings of strikers between Owen/Viduka/Ameobi/Martins which can be mixed and matched. People have said versatility is great, but in a 443 we might have some players suited, but not enough to cater for injuries etc. 442 is also better to watch imo, and is a proven method. NUFC has done its best when scoring lots of goals, we have 3 great strikers, potentially a strike force that could compete with a top 4 counterpart. So let's use em. 443 still should be used, in situations as mentioned, and 443 is a good way to start a match sometimes to get structure (debatable) But when you look at what BS has done it aint far from the mark. He is naturally going to try to use his old system, but showing the manager he is, adapted to what he saw and has played 442 for a decent stretch of time, (guessing 90/270 mins). There is a tendancy to worry he wont see the light and change, but at this stage, and from what we have seen, BS is acting accordingly. Stay positive and have faith, and good things will come to NUFC But then i'm no football manager................
