Tiote, HBA, Barton. Raylor does have a really good eye for goal, other qualities may be lacking, but that open play strike, if it had have been from a better regarded player would have been lauded a lot more.

Good video. It still amazes me how ridiculousy unlucky it was for him and for the club to get injured in such a way so early on in his time for us... Hope he'll be the same player this season.
-
Ideally: Centreback, Proven Striker, N'zogbia, Right-back Realistically: Striker + miscellaneous other Then replace if/when they leave - Barton/Enrique/Jonas
-
Seems a bit like we've pounced on an oppurtunity, liverpool wanting him is a good sign but they can't have fought to hard when he didnt like the terms, hopefully a squad addition rather than the left slot now covered completely in Pardews mind.
-
Seems a good signing, love the out of the blue ones , only downside is probs no Zog now.

The man must have some good connections, clearly loves the redcarpet photoshoots

Was just procrastinating by watching a few vids on BBC while meant to be studying, and came across this, look at about 2:02ish, is that who i think it is? nearly http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tennis/13812223.stm

I worry every time i see this thread bumped , absolutely. cannot. sell.
-
I still think the timing is poor, get some other players in, then sell him, Allardyce 'couldn't pass up a player of such quality' at any time, now he's out the door and we HAVE to get replacement(s) in or we're screwed.
-
The timing is also shit to me, Sam Allardyce loves Nolan so if we held onto him until the last 2 weeks of the window, got other players in, then sold him that would be smarter business, SA wouldnt say no (look at Smith transfer) if he was on offer even if late. But to do it like this means we open ourselves up to massive risk if we can't get the players we want...
-
The thing with the Caroll sale was there was a massive positive to offset the loss. I really don't see what the fuck we gain from selling him, other than a small-medium transfer fee, while we stand to lose a lot.

What does anyone think the 'home' advantage will be worth to Man Utd?

I agree some people are just looking for someone to blame, but others just want it sorted. If you've been married for 4 years, sure the first couple were a bit rough, but the last year has been plain sailing, and then you have a disagreement; should you just say "we disagree, lets move on, divorce?". The thing here is we've got something that against the odds has actually started to work, and to keep that we need one of the parties to compromise a bit. If neither does then the club has lost something that may be replaceable but is going to be very hard to replace cheaply and in a timely manner. So its not about everyone just looking for someone to blame, its more which party people think has the poorly formed position, and should compromise.

Newcastle United v Birmingham City Pre-match thread (07/05/2011 - 3pm KO)
Razor replied to ponsaelius's topic in Football
Expect us to turn up for about 30 minutes, if it happens in the first half they'll wilt and we'll win, if its late bit of a lottery. 2-1. -
I think we only need 5 more points and we're mathematically safe, simply because there are so many teams below us that need to pick up points. And thats with some pretty ridiculous results occuring.
-
Looks like someones tried to go for the Nike Juventus one with the wide stripes a while back (i think it was Juve), but lost their way...
-
Needed that. Great stuff.
-
Normally i'd be annoyed by this result, but the less points West Ham are on the better really.
-
I think the main thing highlighted by this is how important it was that we bounce straight back up, we fell into a piranha filled lake and managed to get out quickly with only a few cuts and scratches. Some credit does have to be given to the management for hanging onto our top players during that time, but then again they had no other sensible choice, and it doesnt make up for some of the failures this season. But the fact we're back in the league (and should be staying) shouldn't be forgotten, imagine the club (and this board) if we were still down there.
-
I wish someone could find a statistic for it, but in the last 4 - 5 years we have had pretty a pretty terrible run in regard to former players scoring agaisnt us. 1-1, with a Martins bullet and a Nolan tap-in
-
No stikers = less goals = less points, we'll be fine but high top half finish must be off the cards unless someone has a massive purple patch. Great general play but i would have rathered a 4-4 , 3am off to bed.

Would have been absolutely immense actually being there. At work today (in Australia) this expat came in wearing an Arsenal top, i couldn't resist, he was going past i said "tough luck this morning huh" and he looks at me grinning and goes "oh no, surely i havent come across a bloody geordie all the way out here" to which i replied "well i might have lost most of the accent, but you're out of luck", some good banter followed, he was a bit upset but mainly at Arsenal, was still a bit disbeleving it had actually happened from 4-0 down. We are in such a different place now to what we could have been if the thrashing had continued.

Can definetly see us grinding to a halt and just falling over the line like Hull in our relegation season, possibly knee-jerk, but meh, the evidence isnt good.
