  1. Well done. Hope you do it. Sadly my Scottish team St Mirren couldn't join you. Did so well to come back from the dead at 2 down but were blitzed in ET.
  2. I still remember old Sadie handing over that treasured bus ticket for an away game to somewhere ordinary like Carlisle, Huddersfield or Blackburn in the 2nd division to me, an excited teenager. The thrill and anticipation of booking to go away was so good back then. Buzzing from the moment I got that ticket. All was left was to count down the days and stock up with a 2 litre bottle of pop and a 6 pack of crisps.
  3. Was Graham Carr, father of Alan, managing Northampton back then? Think Northampton and Preston at home were the 2 FA cup rounds before we went to Spurs in 87?
  4. He's probably more gutted at having to wear black and white in court than any sentence he'll get.
  5. I'm at Celtic with St Mirren tomorrow. A long shot but it would be nice to put a spanner in Celtics title hopes.
  6. Meant to get to York this season just incase they went up in order to keep my place in the 92 club. Unfortunately didn't get round to it. Still hope they go up. I'm sure I'll get into one of their games next season.
  7. . Lincoln almost certainly going up. Stockport and Stevenage in and around the play offs too.
  8. I like this pic of the Blue Star keeper tipping the ball onto the bar on Saturday. 3-0 win v Penrith in front of a claimed 333 crowd but didn't look that many. Personally I came out of non league hibernation.
  9. Might take a rare trip to Blue Star on Saturday as it's just down the road and it's a bit warmer now. Real fair weather non league fan me. Do a few games early then late into the season. Late summer and then spring. Can't hack the cold dark winter games though.
  10. Same area for me and was thinking it's the quietest I can remember the mackems ever being at SJP 1st half. Felt like we sensed how it would pan out as the game went on while they sensed we were there for the taking so the atmosphere changed.
  11. Not forgetting the "curry hell" where 2 lads would get up and see who could eat the hottest curry the nearby Rupali restaurant could supply. Didn't end well as you can imagine.
  12. If Carlsberg did football days. What a day that was. A dream day. It seemed like our game had been finished for ages, was it 5-0 v Forest?, while we waited on other results coming in. It was just cheers and jubilation over and over again as one by one each result fell into place. Think Liverpool lost, at Sheffield Wed maybe 🤔. Then the icing on the delicious cake was the mackems and Boro going down. I can remember being in the Irish bar opposite the station and everyone going outside to sing let's all laugh at Sunderland as a London train came in. Think they might have been at Wimbledon that day. Fantastic 😄
  13. Aye, was in last Friday and they had signs up in the bogs etc saying 9am
  14. Mad Mick at the Wonderbar. So I've been told anyway 👙🍺😉
  15. I agree. There have been much more damaging and depressing defeats than last night. Some of the losses in the "nearly" season, at Blackburn and Anfield for example. The whimper of a "performance" to try and avoid relegation at Villa 1st time round. Adam Johnson in the last minute a few days before Xmas. Collapsing at Sporting Lisbon after being 2 goals up in the tie only to lose 4-2. Defo started to think we could win it that year. Scoreline does look horrendous to the outside world but we know how it went over the course of 2 legs against one of the world's best.
  16. A far cry from todays limited and bland song book. For some reason the "Al give you an N, Al give you an E" song came back to me to other day, with the classic ending 1,2,3,4 listen to the Geordies roar... Newcastle! Newcastle!" great days off the pitch at least.
  17. "We played Barcelona...you made pink cakes. Sunland are a massive club"
  18. A bit further back there was the famous "We hate Man U...Cos they beat us 7-2", as the song goes. About 1977. Quality side Barcelona but we really did gift half of those goals tonight. Undid any good work at the other end.
  19. What was going on with Football Focus yesterday? A Sunderland special from the SOS where celeb fan Steve Cram featured heavily alongside Steph Houghton. Spoke with a few fans, of which that woman off "STID" was one. You know, the "Why's it never us" one. She referred to their win against the visitors as being a highlight this season and predictably a montage of goals featured loads against us. Suppose they'd struggle to find any high points away from derby games.
  20. 100 times in the time it takes to make a decision
  21. Certanly can't remember the last time Sunderland WERE drawn with Barcelona, or anyone else in Europe for that matter.
  22. Hit the nail on the head with the self awareness bit. There was also the one about the "fizzy pop" cup. They thought they were class when they all went to Wembo for play off finals and the pizza cup so don't tell me they would have taken winning the league cup as if it didn't matter. They were wanking themselves off about the prospect of an FA cup quarter final that they embarrassingly failed to reach.
  23. St Mirren through for another Hampden appearance in the Scottish cup semis . Celtic await though . Hate cup draws me. Although they have had Livingston, Airdrie and Partick so far.
  24. Probably the radio NEWCASTLE commentators over exaggerating their support. Them being massive and all that.
  25. Thought I heard them say Sunderland had 7k there but there was only over 10k there in total. Thought the locals would have came out in force to see box office massive club Sun'land.
