I'm a massive fan of Bassong, but there's no doubt he's probably our only player with any luck. There's several occasions where he gave away a penalty that wasn't given or should have been cautioned/sent off. Colo has quality as any Depor fan will tell you. If we stay up I imagine he'll stay for one more season at least and if we go down there'll be pretty much no chance of him staying.

I think he may have played a few games for them you know.

I'd still like to see him out on loan if we stayed up and had adequate cover while he was away... not that it's at all viable or likely now. I think he definitely has the quality and potential, it's just getting in hours at a higher level than reserves to prove it in my opinion.

Got to look at it in context though, we've got a good reserve squad compared to other reserve squads. Our first XI is just dysfunctional in almost every area.

I think that they obviously still do want it, but you must have noticed the same as I have just how toned down everyone tries to be in football. Nobody wants to put their neck on the line and make a statement saying 'We WILL do this' incase it backfires. Maybe it eases the stress on the players as well? It could be more damaging to aim for europe and miss rather than go for a strong league finish and just fall short. It's all bollocks anyway, the UEFA allocations for europe this season seem a bit all over the shop. 'Europa' my arse.
