  1. It makes me cringe so much when I hear Americans talk about football, or "soccer" as they insist on calling it. And also the terminology they use. This is why I would be devastated if any English game of football was played over there. For example, I arrived in New York City on the day of the 2006 World Cup final. When I got to the room in my hotel, I flicked the TV on to ESPN, to hear them say, "And thats the end of overtime, and it looks as if we're heading for a PK shootout!". - For fucks sake, that sentence alone sums up their attitude and ignorance to football in that they must use their own, stupid, unrecognised terminology.
  2. I'll fucking love it if they fail to land a big name and end up with a mediocre manager!! It might be me, but just because they've done what we did with Robson. After a few high-placed finishes and a poor start to the season, he got the sack. They've done exactly the same as us. Just you wait for them to unveil Soumess....
  3. I have a birthday in little over a week, as I have distant relatives ringing my parents house asking what I'd like, I might stick that on the list for shits and giggles
  4. whey its not just free from 6, 'cos I've just flicked Virgin 544 on now, and I'm watching John Barnes talk to Tommy Smith
  5. Shay Given's gone one better!! From the Journal this morning... The 31-year-old Brazilian scored his first goal for the Magpies against Spurs on Monday night, but Given is more impressed with his ability at the other end of the pitch. He said: “I’ve been trying to learn Spanish to help with the communication side of things, but I tried to speak to Caçapa in Spanish and had forgotten they speak Portuguese in Brazil. He just gave me a blank look. It obviously hasn’t been very successful so far but I’m working on it. ;D http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2007/10/25/given-we-will-entertain-you-61634-20004754/
  6. When the ball's at your feet, you trip up, You run like your feet are stuck in muck, SHOOOOOLA, SHA SHA SHA SHOOOOLA. shit, but what do you expect in 1 minute of thought?
  7. It all depends on the dosh. Not sure Shinawatra will pay Owen's wages, and in terms of a new contract, it remains to be seen if Mort will also be willing increase the alleged 110K a week to keep him here. If Owen leaves, I'm still adament it'll be to one of the "big four".
  8. wheyyyyyyy! bit of optimism! makes a nice change from the constant pessimism on here at the minute!
  9. interesting. I can't think of anything Hughes has over Allardyce tbh
  10. fucking hell man!!!! for now, just get results and points on the board - be happy with it. work on the type of football later. all that matters for now is winning - something we didn't do enough of last season. and Jay Jay, should we pick up the rags tomorrow, or switch on skysports news to find out Allardyce has got the chop - who would you want to replace him? REALISTICALLY.
  11. I'm chuffed with the start we've made to be honest. Compare the fixtures we've played to those of last season (with the exception of Derby) Bolton away - Last season - lost 2-1 This season won 3-1 Villa home Last season - won 3-1 This season - drew 0-0 smogs away Last season - lost 1-0 This season - drew 2-2 Wigan Home Last season - won 2-1 This season - won 1-0 West Ham home - Last season - drew 2-2 This season - won 3-1 Man City away - Last season - drew 0-0 This season - lost 3-1 so from those games - last season - 8 points this season - 11 points so for people saying "not good enough" etc and being pricks about it saying sack Allardyce, I have merely given the results that support the fact we are in a better position than this time last season and that you're impatient twats. our net spend isn't all that great. the squad is still small. the squad still needs building (attacking midfielder, yes) we get turned over 3-1 away from home by a team that has spent alot more than us, and to be honest, had one player that ran the game for them, and people want the manager sacked! fuck off man! don't expect miracles overnight! Regardless of Derby/today - we're making steps in the right direction. Be patient!
  12. Readings defence looking as reliable as a chocolate fireguard it seems, poor goalie as well Hahnemann IMO. yup. Their defence made a centre half pairing of Bramble and O'Brien look like Nesta and Cannavaro
  13. watching the pompey game - has every shot at goal gone in?
  14. here, what are you lot like? Let us not forget, up until this summer, we were the holders of the intertoto cup!!!! (sorry, I've spent the afternoon in the student union, so I'm not totally sober)
  15. at the minute I'm praying we're not too defensive about the game tomorrow, and that if we go 4-3-3, Martins isn't isolated and has no impact, so its like playing with 10 men. I know a point wouldn't take us anywhere, but to be honest I'd take the draw as I really can't see us winning.
  16. Jose Mourinho. If he's not in a job when Allardyce eventually does leave - I really wouldn't be surprised if he ended up here, what with the perception we're given about Ashley wanting high-profile players. I can see that being the same for a manager, too.
  17. Now this has been brought up I'm going to just say how fucking annoyed I get when Man Utd/Boro and even more so, the fucking unwashed (for fucks sake!) sing their appauling, modified renditions of the Blaydon Races. Man Utd's has to be the piss-poorest effort, especially as they lose the Geordie dialect in it by singing "going" instead of "gannin'".
  18. yup - I was upstairs buying a diary for uni and he came in that way. I said "alright" and he walked off before raptuous applause from the mongs downstairs clad in Newcastle shirts and each holding about 5 copies of the book EACH.
  19. My thoughts exactly, i've been saying this to my mates, once Enrique is settled, Charlie should be on the left wing, Milner on the right as both of these will hug the touchline, give width and supply crosses. The midfield will come good when this happens on a regular basis... Duff? TBH, i don't rate Duff and would play Charlie over him any day, I'm yet to see a game where Duff has impressed me, but hey, thats just my thoughts... I was joking like, to be honest I'm just counting him out of the picture completely

  21. What do you expect? Probably bought the web designing programme off a "market staw daan the east end along wif aalf paand bananas".
  22. and has also landed himself a cushy extra earner with England U21's.
  23. Link us this is the last page..... http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=94535&start=480 just that they thought they deserved at least a point, one says we were an "inferior team" and another says we were "fucking gash" for most of the game. Dunno if it's me, but the 1st and second halves were mirror images of one another. To be fair to them, they had us under the cosh and chasing the ball in the first, but in the second it was the other way round. Being as least bias as possible, I really do think they're just bitter - we did deserve to win.
