sunderland - League derbies are back
WarrenBartonCentrePartin replied to Big River's topic in Football
My old school Fuck knows what's happened since I left, but when I was there it was a dedicated language college. We had football teams but the rugby team never got off the ground as they couldn't even get 15 players. There was nowt extracurricular. Now it seems like they're throwing everything at sport. Think they had a tie-in with Carlisle United at some point too, and they work very closely with Durham CCC. -
While I like Dubravka, I wouldn’t be against an upgrade, like. However if we were to do so, I’d prefer it to be someone considerably better than Pope.

Any excuse to go back to Seattle. I’m there.

Really early bid, but I probably won't meet the loyalty point threshold for Boxing Day. If anyone does and will be tied up with family commitments so can't go, please let me know

I just remember Keegan being unable to mention his name without referring to him as “young Danny Guthrie”

I'm 33. Here's ex-Ayr United and Motherwell keeper Hugh Sproat when he was a year younger than I am now.

I do lean towards the view that unfortunately, I think he's taken us as far as he can. What he's achieved is far beyond what anyone expected, but I think he's got his limitations. I wouldn't be sad or disappointed if he went but at the same time I don't think the FA have the balls to replace him. The suggestion of Poch is just daft. It's far more likely if/when he goes, they'll be eyeing up someone like Potter. -

We coasted through the Waffa Cup one year with games on Channel 5. Then ITV picked them up and we crashed out. Let's blame this on Channel 4 taking the games on. -

Nee idea when it comes to flogging them in the shops, but players have been cutting the foot off/wearing socks without for ages. They have those grip socks on. Close up, it looks like they're worn over a normal football sock but nah, they cut them. -
We've now got a Harry Kane chant to Manfred Mann's Doo Wah Diddy. How lovely.

Given the answers are all fairly similar dependent on the decade you grew up in/started supporting the club, anyone got a first/favourite cult hero? Does Alex Mathie fit the bill, for example? Malcolm Allen? There's @Inferior Acuña on here and on the understanding of the term, his namesake is probably mine. Never let us down and was good for the odd goal. Taylor and Besty spent a load of donated money on "tracking down" Philippe Albert (who is commonly reported as being in the fruit and veg trade in Belgium) for a film that is still yet to see the light of day. Would've been far better off going to Chile and finding him.

For England? Aye. Some international sides seem to allocate favoured numbers to players but we've always gone 1-11 in non-tournament games. -
