  2. Did we not extend the deal with Adidas in the end then? How long is the deal with puma for?
  3. The thing is though, I've never lived in or around Newcastle, and yet theres always been Newcastle fans (young and old) around. If theres a Newcastle game on in the pub, at least 1 other person will be there in a toon shirt, even in the quietest of places. I'm in uni halls, living with a Newcastle fan from Burnley. Out of 120 people in my year at school last year (southeast) , 5 were NUFC fans. Thats quite impressive when you think there were some with absolutely no interest in football, no fulham, QPR, Palace, Gillingham fans that I'm aware of which are all more local. Even despite how bad we are, there's still a sizeable minority who support the toon everywhere with no affiliation to the area. Those that say "No-one cares about NUFC outside of Newcastle" evidently haven't been outside Newcastle.
  4. Didn't know a lot about football at the time. Started supporting us when we Souness was running the show ( )Liked the fact that we had a lot of English players and generally just a warm feeling towards the club when watching us on MOTD. Armchair fan at that point. Went to first away game against West Ham where we won 2-0 and never looked back! Been to about 15 away games and 1 home game. Complete abscence of any local league team (nearest is Gillingham- hour and a half away) and parents not even remotely interested in football, so no influence from them.
  5. Capello reveals plans to rate every player after the game and sell ratings on at a high price.
  6. well the liquidation process would start if no offers were made, so more likely an announcement will be made shortly.
  7. Bloke on another website seemed to think Sheff Wed would take palace's place. My mate is a palace fan, so would be gutting for him.
  8. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11706_6182403,00.html Sorry if I've got the wrong idea or if it's posted elsewhere. Looks like if they don't get a deal through by 3pm tomorrow, they fold.
  9. fly them over to switzerland, and they won't be needing a return flight.
  10. I'm going to dig myself out of this whole here by starting a fixture list.
  11. 5. Which implies we are as likely to go down as we are stay up. I don't see how relegation can be any more likely than that with the usual suspects West Brom, playoff winners, Wolves, Stoke, West Ham, Bolton, Birmingham, Wigan. Incidentally, can we have a Europe-o-meter just so we can bump one after a win and one after a defeat?
  12. Could be a case of lowering transfer fees and fan's expectations. I don't know, it could be. Let's not make mountains out of molehills, let's wait and see what has happened come the end of the transfer window and more importantly the end of the season. Ashley is a serial bullshitter so I'm not going to try and second guess any statements.
  13. The return to fitness of Barton and the sale of Butt will be like two new signings.
  14. WITH the majority of European leagues still two weeks from their conclusion, Chris Hughton admits that he will take advantage of his side's early finish to continue his scouting trawl across the continent. The Magpies wrapped up their league campaign with victory at QPR on Sunday, freeing Hughton and his staff to begin their preparations ahead of next season's return to the Premier League. And the gaffer told nufc.co.uk: "It's certainly an opportunity to look at players now we're finished that little bit earlier. "During the season you are able to get to games, but not as many as you'd like because of our midweek matches. Article continues>> "But there are a lot of games over Europe during these next few weeks and it's a good chance for myself and the staff to make the most of it. "I've taken in a few games already but intend to see a lot more during these next few weeks."
  15. Fair shout. Surprised that after a search, nothing came up on here though
  16. http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/TicketsHome/0,,10278,00.html appears to be selling tickets for a game away to Norwich on the 24th July. No mention of this anywhere else though?
  17. Stupid statement it may well be, but I will be judging Ashley and co after the transfer window ends, and more specifically when the season ends. I can't remember what the statement said in January, but I'm not sure it involved buying as many players as we did. Lets hope we end up with a decent enough team to survive next season, and that this is just much ado about nothing.
  18. Would definitely make sense. 5th at home v 6th would be a plan. 4th vs winner of above. 3rd vs winner of above at Wembley. I'd also let away team fans have half the home stadium if required as well. obviously a bit harder if you have a West Ham/ Millwall sort of situation but the principle is good.
  19. Perhaps. Would only add another year if I was them. lifetime contract it is then.
  20. To be fair though, it was at a lower level.
  21. http://www.footballshirtculture.com/fantasy-kit-design/fantasy-kit-design/newcastle-utd-2010-11puma-kit-6455.html A mate posted this one saying its real, luckily it says "fantasy kit design"
  22. Looks like a good day for ant-football in the premier league.
  23. i was expecting us to come 2nd with WBA to win it. They seem like they know this league better, and I didnt have faith in Hughton as a manager, but was expecting our squad to have enough for automatic promotion. pleasantly slightly surprised that Hughton has done so well this year.
  24. regardless, I cant see Ashley funding it.
