  1. always going to happen. after all this is a very big important derby game.
  2. I was going to put 20 quid on a wigan win at 4/1. really wish i had!
  3. Don't know why Spurs and Villa get so much jip tbh. I've been to Villa a couple of times and sat in the holte end and yes, I did wonder if they were watching the same game as me (never stopped slating the ref and demanding penalties that clearly werent). All football fans are exactly the same, most couldnt tell the eyeballs from their arsehole. Take it with a pinch of salt
  4. We're looking good recently, so I'd hope for a win. A draw wouldn't be the end of the world seeing as this is probably our hardest fixture left (debatable). A win here and it's all plain sailing for the rest of the season
  5. For anyone who doesn't know of www.betclic.com, they are offering a free £20 bet. if you lose they refund it and you can withdraw the money it would seem. So, do I go for Reading to beat Villa at 13/4 or Wigan to beat Liverpool at 19/4? I know the reading odds arent that good but I just have that sneaky FA cup feeling! Any other cheeky bets for tomorrow?
  6. If I remember right, Ashley gave Hughton a 2 year contract. Surely if he had planned to replace him after promotion, it would only have been a contract until the end of the season? A 2 year contract implies that the plan is to achieve promotion, and if it seems to all be going wrong and Hughton isnt as good as hoped, itll be relatively cheap to sack him just before/during/after the January Transfer window
  7. Those who say and have said at the start of the season that we should get rid of him need to think what alternatives we realistically have. He's made a few mistakes which are plain to see but the fact is, we are 5 points clear at the top of the championship with a game in hand. That is highly commendable and I don't think that we would necessarily be in this position had we not kept him in charge. I think if we go up this season, we need to keep him in charge and bear in mind that we will be a newly promoted team, and that anything above 18th place is acceptable.
  8. cheers for the consolation goal though. shows youve got some perspective at least
  9. even better- handball to set up the equaliser!! take that you cant's!
  10. Nah. Same team with Guthrie in the middle, Taylor on the right and Ranger upfront with Carroll. 1-2 United... We did though. 7-1 Watford is that the half time score or the full time score?
  11. theye got cleverley suspended (one of their best players). Should be able to get at least a draw.
  12. What brings a Barca fan to a Newcastle forum anyway?
  13. It would be better to see fourth and fifth playing for the last champions league place. Although, that would render the fourth-fifth place battle over the whole season pretty meaningless. Id personally love to see some of the lesser teams in the CL. Would be much more interesting seeing Birmingham or Fulham taking on Barcelona than watching Chelsea or Man United, again in my opinion.
  14. put it this way. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but seeing a team like Fulham or Everton playing Barcelona would excite me much more than watching Chelsea or Man United. I normally find myself rooting for the other team than the British team. Having a smaller british team as the underdogs would really excite support from the country
  15. Look at some of the teams in the group stages of the champions league. debrecen, besiktas, etc. etc. Surely if they are good enough, teams like Fulham or Everton would stand a chance. I'm not saying they'd go on and win it by any means but they'd probably give it a go, and perhaps go past group stage.
  16. If I remember right, towards the end of last season it was Birmingham, Wolves and Sheff Utd as the 3 teams realistically fighting for the 2 automatic promotion spots. All 3 were pretty poor for the latter part of the season and all dropped lots of points. However, it was birmingham and Wolves who as the teams who took the top 2 for most of the season went up. Could be a similar situation here- us certainly in a lower gear than at the start, and Forest dropping lots of points at the moment. Cant see WBA being poor but it may well be them going up as champions, and us second on the basis that we drop less points than Forest and no-one else gets enough to close the gap.
  17. any luck and it stays like that so they have to replay it.
  18. I've given up trying to predict the outcomes of our games in the championship, I really have. I geneuinely have no idea whether we will thrash derby or end up losing. anyone that thinks they do is deluding themselves
  19. That's ridiculous. I can only assume 'drunk in charge' implies that the car was in some way operational. happened to someone down here. he fell asleep in his car because he was drunk and didnt want to drive home. however, he left the key in in order to use the heater. Coppers nicked him for it because if the key is in the ignition, you are committing a crime.
  20. To be fair, most of our players have been charged with assault, which makes it alright.
