  1. I'm just glad we've proved all those who mocked us wrong. Many have revelled in our demise and here we are, 5 games before the end of the season securing an immediate return to the premiership. That is impressive.
  2. If WBA had lost, the earliest date to win the title would have been at Plymouth. Nope, as it stands Brom have played 42 games and are on 83 points. We have 86 from 40 games. Maximum return for Brom is 12 points, putting their maximum total to 95. We now need 10 points from 6 games to guarantee the title. (Unless i am mistaken)
  3. Absolutely gutted. If Brom hadnt got that equaliser, i'd have probably witnessed us win the title at Reading away. Now i will probably see us "effectively champions" which just isnt the same. Still, I suppose it's better for you actual Geordies if it sealed at SJP
  4. It was between 5 and 7, thats all I know
  5. Apparently Edgar scored today, as did Hughton's son
  6. You just know its going to be an own goal or a keeping error!
  7. WTF. You've had 20 or so games on TV this season, is that not enough? What are you gonna miss about the Championship? What do you think League 1 has to offer? I would say not having to put up with clubs (and fans) who are deluded, thinking they are far bigger and far more important than they are, but Leeds will be there next season anyway. Haven't you read the sun? We are the biggest club in the world and because of that we have a divine right to be in the premier league.
  8. Manchester United Chelsea Liverpool
  9. One thing Im not looking forward to when we go back to the premiership is the constant media attention and the wanking over chelsea and man united. And the inevitable slagging off we will get. I've been watching football league games live for a while and really enjoyed it. You get much more devoted fans. The last time I was at Villa the Holte end was full of fair weather freddy's who booed after they drew. I'd much rather go to a half empty stadium full of passionate fans than one that is full of people who clearly dont have a clue.
  10. I've been very impressed with Birmingham this season. Alex McLeish has done a fantastic job turning them into battlers, again it is possible that we could do similar. However, in my opinion this is a freak season for Birmingham, and I don't believe they will bat similarly above their average next season without decent investment (which they could well end up getting). Yes, maybe we will do a Birmingham, but that there would lead to high expectations and disappointment when it is realised that our squad isnt capable of consistently finishing in the top 10. For what its worth, I don't think a midtable finish is impossible. But if you told me we will finish 15th or 16th next season I think I would be reasonably happy but not ecstatic.
  11. Or perhaps it is more due to the fact that they havent had the luxury of playing good teams in good grounds with good players, and fans and players are desperate to cause a shock
  12. Yes but how many of our players who have been fantastic this season were dross in the premiership? This season's success has been built on our solid defence- however Coloccini was woeful last season. It is difficult to see how players like Simpson, Enrique and Williamson will fare. Depending on the transfer window, we might be without Coloccini, Enrique and Jonas. I'd hope for new signings, but people need to bear in mind that looking at our current squad, we will be amongst the dross. The likes of Lovenkrands and Carroll are unproven, and Barton's and Routledge's record is questionable because of injuries and Nolan's due to fitness. Hopefully our defence will be better due to stability and being settled. The likes of Carroll, Williamson, Lovenkrands and Routledge will have had a successful season in the championship which means they should be improved. I dont want to sound negative. I believe that our current squad should have enough to be near the top of the dross. But, to be disappointed with 13th would be setting ourselves up for a massive fall in my opinion.
  13. Aims and expectations are different things. Aim for anything as high as 10th. Realistically, as fans we should be happy if we stay up, hopefully with a couple of games to spare.
  14. Look people, its far from sealed yet. Weve got a massive game on Monday night. A loss there and Forest would close the gap by three points and wed have it all to play for.
  15. Just get the win and we are still 4 points off West Brom with a game in hand, 1 point off promotion and 12 off winning the league with 6 games to go.
  16. 1 minute gone, 1 goal. Looking good! Two now. That would be your bet won then. 26 minutes not bad!
  17. Thats the iffy one on my accumulator. Could well happen though. Anyway, Champions League games are always midweek
  18. if you enjoy donating money to the bookies retirement fund Im not gonna back it, but I reckon Arsenal are more than capable of scoring a goal. If it gets to half time 0-0 we might have a very different 2nd half. That said, Im not watching the game
  19. 1 minute gone, 1 goal. Looking good!
  20. arsenal now 16/5 to win at home! maybe worth a punt?
  21. Liverpool winning at Benfica Fulham beating Wolfsburg (H) Millwall beating Brentford (H) West Brom beating Leicester (H) £20 wins £300
