  1. Wasn't he said to be out for about 4 weeks only 2 weeks ago? read an article saying he would be fit.
  2. I think the main point he was getting at was that our success was built upon the fact we were sound defensively. We won a lot of away games 1-0. Most of the goals were scored at home.
  3. No news is probably good news with regards to the weather postponing it. Still a bit of snow and ice down here but I'd hope there wouldnt be enough to call it off.
  4. The race for the 2026 world cup is close, bookies currently have Narnia as faviourites, with middle earth, atlantis and seasame street hot on there heels.
  5. Nah I'm a toon fan, just love going to see the spicy games really! I went to see Fenerbahce v Besiktas, and there was barely any violence there. Whereas here, it all kicks off! Was a great atmosphere, but yes if I hadn't have been cheering for Birmingham in the home end I reckon I'd have been hung drawn and quartered.
  6. I saw loads of police with dogs and riot gear before the match. After the match, they were all inside the stadium and where I was, there wasn't a single one outside. Anyway, don't expect that one to be played on a weekday again!
  7. I've also just got back from this game, sat in the same stand as the Villa fans but in the home section in the corner. Frankly, west midlands police were appauling. At half time, both sets of fans were trying to smash the metal barrier down and some villa fans managed to get into the Birmingham section and it all kicked off. No police or stewards were in the concourse whatsoever, and yet the away fans manage to just bash down the door. Flares and chairs being thrown by both sets of fans at FT. Random bloke stopped and shouted at me "fucking bluenose scum" on the way, looking for a fight. Not a single policeman outside after the game where I was. All it would've taken was for 1 villa fan without a ticket to say the wrong thing and it would've been a massacre. All in all, shocking display from the police and the hooligan element from both sets of supporters. I live halfway between the 2 grounds, and all the pubs by the Aston university campus dont even open on derby day because they got smashed up last time. Farce.
  8. Ok so it sounds like: Krul Simps Taylor Sol Enrique Rout Barton Tiote Jonas Shola Carroll If Shola not fit then Ranger That would be a pleasing lineup
  9. Spurs to win was 22-1 when it was 2-2. I was gonna put some money on it and now this!
  10. What I am noticing about us this season is that people seem to rate us. The Sky sports match report says "Fulham will head back to London delighted with a point" the general feel of the article is that underdogs Fulham came to a very difficult place and got a fantastic result. Although we aren't doing as well at home as we should be, people are taking us as a genuine proposition rather than the pushovers of the past
  11. Incidentally, Fulham have only lost 3 games this season. One of them against chelsea the other night, which was only 1-0. Hard team to beat.
  12. Home form is poor but we are still higher than WBA and Blackpool. Still 6 points off the relegation zone, and 7th. We're not world beaters lets be honest. I do however think we will turn the corner and get some good results.
  13. for the atmosphere alone, Fenerbahce 1-1 Besiktas
  14. "This is why I value this forum so highly. If the result were the other way round, their forum would be full of "we were robbed, stinky Mackems, self-pity blah blah." We are a more measured knowledgeable bunch. Bigger men." on RTG

  16. To whom it may concern, Imagine my shock, anguish and near apoplectic rage this morning when a cursory glance at your channel revealed to me the callous and factually incorrect use of the name ‘St James Park’ to refer to our stadium, when it is public and accepted knowledge that the stadia in question is now proudly renamed sportsdirect.com@StJamesP ark stadium. This is not only offensive to loyal supporters of ‘the toon’ such as myself, but also a grave injustice to our spiritual leader Mike Ashley. Mr Ashley is a fine, fine man whose commercial acumen and acute business sense in the face of adversity does not deserve to be besmirched in such a callous and derogatory fashion. Must I remind you this is a man who forged an empire, a phoenix from the ashes straddling the sporting world like a colossus, where others such as Olympus Sports and The Substitutes Bench have failed in the past. Alas, the ultimate result of your negligence goes far deeper – Mr Ashley has underwritten this name change at great expense. Failure to recognise the new title of the stadia can have nothing but a detrimental knock-on effect regarding sales of his merchandise. This ultimately will leave this proud man with no choice but to ask, cap in hand, that the consumer shoulder some of the financial burden created by yourself. While this may mean little to Mr Murdoch and other company fat cats in their towers or ivory, it may be enlightening for you to know that Newcastle as a city prides itself on its ability to look fashionable and sheik in reasonably priced Donnay polo shirts, and Lonsdale trainers whilst casually twirling Dunlop golfing umbrellas. In this age of financial austerity you can imagine the tragic results. We have already lost Geordie jeans, and with it our easy access to Le Shark jumpers, and I fear what further economic strains may do to this proud city. I trust you will deal with this serious matter with the utmost urgency, or I may have to take this up with my MP, and quite possibly Jeff Brown from Look North whom I have on good authority is equally as appalled by your actions as the common man. Good day to you Sir, Reginald Theodore Gaddafhi Read more: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=534476&page=18#ixzz13mb5EglC
  17. Chelsea are aiming to win the league. If they come 2nd they have failed. Newcastle are aiming to survive. If we finish 17th, we have succeeded.
  18. More established..? How many years were NUFC in the PL before Stoke managed it ? If Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal or even, never let it be said, Everton, were relegated for one season, would you then say Stoke were a more established side and expect those sides to drop points to them ? OK, so we are not those teams but we have a much longer presence in the PL than they do, we have much bigger gates and we have been in the CL twice as well as regular Euro football in the period between 1994 and 1997. There is no comparison between the 2 clubs and when at SJP, we SHOULD be able to beat these teams...just as we expect little from games at the Top 8 right now. They will finish above us, as will many other teams. It's a shame we lost, but it was a poor result and not time to panic yet. Adjusting from the championship to the prem takes some doing so it's not a suprise to me that we are inconsistent.
  19. If that is his comments/justifications...then he has clearly not learnt his lessons. Yes Chris it is good to have goal scorers on the pitch but could you not see that HBA in the middle (replacing the knackered Nolan) with Jonas on the left would have been more of a threat than having two immobile strikers 'supported' by the lumbering Nolan? nolan got his chance at the end, which if he had scored would have justified Hughtons decision. unfortunately- he fluffed it.
