  1. IMO, it shouldn't be our most ambitious summer yet. Money does need to be spent, but I'd rather we spent closer to £30m-£40m bracket than attempt a £60m+ spending spree simply because its Keegan and Ashley's money. That should come when we achieve a European finish, and have justification to splash cash to make that "extra push". Right now we need to get rid of some of the donkeys, and replace them with more consistent Premier League players. We need people in who don't get as injured as much our current crop, and ones that can contribute more to the game then just one thing. I don't think its going to be easy attracting the calibre of players some people want on here. We all want the players to get us in to top 6 finish, but truth is Everton, Spurs, Blackburn, Man City, Aston Villa, Portsmouth and West Ham all have a fair bit to spend and will no doubt rival us to any quality players. Plus with no European football for next season (given our current form and position) it's likely the clubs I mentioned will have better pulling power than us, unless we go for the "let's offer them £90k a week" approach, which is dangerous and not getting the players here with the right attitude and mindset. If I'm harsh, I'm hoping these players leave... Viduka - Sadly, a bit of a waste of time and big disappointment. Great ability, but no umph to use it and contribute more to the game when off the ball. Injured a lot. Ameobi - Not good enough. Smith - Awful midfielder, not good enough as a striker. Don't know how I believed this guy was good for us when he signed. Barton - Dickhead, will fuck up again. Probably going to end up inside with these two court cases against him anyway. Carr - Slow and not good enough. With these gone, I'd feel we would need to bring in a left back, a right back, a centre back, two attacking centre midfielders and two strikers. That's 7 players, which will be costly. I'd like us to get these, as I feel there is a realistic chance we can get them all and it won't break the bank on transfer fee's and wages on all of them. Nicky Shorey - Very good left back. Pascal Chimbonda - Very good at getting forward. Ben Haim - Him and Taylor would be solid. Giles Barnes - Youth in centre of park, hopefully someone who can score goals and develop well here. Sebastian Larsson - Someone who can create something who has Premier league experience and someone we could get. Dave Kitson - Can score goals and would offer more threat than Smith or Ameobi and more games than Owen or Viduka. Diouf - Rough people up and score goals. This could offer a possible line ups from... Given/Harper Chimbonda/Beye Ben Haim/Faye Taylor/Cacapa Shorey/Enrique Milner/Larrson Barnes/Emre Butt/Geremi Duff/N'Zogbia Owen/Martins Diouf/Kitson Perhaps I'm selling us short and there are bigger names and better players we should aim for. But I fear if we gamble on players without Premier League experience (like Rozenahl, Cacapa) we may find they all need a season to "adjust" when we really need to be moving up the league now, even if its only to 8th or 9th in the league. We should be aiming for Europe in the 09/10 season, if we are realistic and sensible. Bah... just my opinions. Sure many will disagree like.
  2. No they won't. It will be funny.
  3. That would be Spurs, who were bottom of the table until that appointed a top European manager? The difference being they're on the up, and we're on the down. We've just appointed a new manager, who is to say that we will not be on the up soon?
  4. Didn't he mention Michael Owen being the least interested in working hard in training? and Carr being the hardest worker?!?!?
  5. Some people need to remember what happened when Roeder took over from Souness. We were even lower in the league, around 14th I believe. That season we finished 7th. We've not had a decent run of form this season, and it's hardly beyond the realms of possibility that when Keegan gets back Beye, Martins and Faye that we will see some better football and form. It's been glum for a while, yes, but it’s too early to assume that we will never be able to reproduce any positive form for the remainder of the season AND get relegated as a consequence. There’s 15 games to go and another 45 points to fight for, lets get behind the team instead of prematurely shitting our pants and half expecting relegation. Jesus, despite our shit form for months, we are still on par with Spurs points wise. Are the Spurs fans contemplating relegation? January must be the most difficult time to sign anyone, because clubs usually only sell if they can replace who they are selling. Most clubs don’t want to sell as they know it may be difficult to sign a replacement. There is still time for a player or two to come in, however if we don’t get anyone in I’m happy that we’ve got some quality players returning from African Cup.
  6. They won't gloat for long when Woodgate and King are both keeping each other company in the treatment room.
  7. Going to say Owen. Despite disappearing in games, if you get him infront of goal with the ball, he is nearly always going to score.
  8. Well... I thought we kept the ball on the deck and passed it around well. Seems the our back line has been told to keep the ball and pass out from defence, which led to far more posession for us. Bolton had a very defensive game plan, and they roughed us up well. We need more players bursting in to the box from midfield, as Owen and Ameobi need support. Given - 7/10 - Did well to save us at the end, other than that not much to do. Enrique - 6/10 - Had an ok game. Needs to think a bit faster as he will make a tackle, then fanny around a bit before deciding what to do with the ball. In that time usually Bolton make a challenge and either get the ball back or get it out for a throw. Cacapa - 7/10 - Good game. Think he's getting used to the pace & strength of the league. Came out out of defence to and passed well. Taylor - 7/10 - Good game, strong. Not much else to say. Carr - 6/10 - Wasn't awful, but needs to give up shooting. He's in same boat as Nicky Butt for long rangers, needs to leave shooting to the players who are better at it. Duff - 5/10 - Felt he was not his self today. Didn't do enough and he should have been crossing more or shooting more. N'Zogbia 6/10 - Nothing amazing, but some good runs. His delivery on free kicks or corners was nothing special. Milner - 5/10 - Poor delivery... no good crosses. Rozenhal 6/10 - Played ok. Much better than Smith. Nothing special. Owen - 4/10 - Was he playing? Ameobi - 5/10 - Tried hard, but lacked quality.
  9. Such an exciting time at the moment. There is no way Keegan would have come back to this club if he didn't have money to spend, as its clear that the only way to compete for top 4 spot (or even 5th or 6th!) is to spend big and plug the areas of the pitch which we are weak in. We have some wonderful players in Duff, N'Zogbia and Owen... now to build around these players with similar quality to bring back good football and wins!
  10. Really angry at Emre. This was his best chance to fill the void of CM and really turn on the style and dictate the play. Instead he decides a revenge elbow on a Championship player is the best way to act. Fucking Johnson.

    Alan Shearer

Why is he getting on your tits? he is entitled to his opinion as much as the next person. Let him be.
  12. same events for me mate. Honestly though Deschamps was the one, same feelings and reactions.

    Kevin Keegan

same here. I mean it's an exciting tale to have him back, and with money he could do well, but I really believe that we'd be more likely to get long term success with a good technical foreigh coach over Keegan. I hope KK proves me wrong though.

    Mark Hughes

A Blackburn fan mate of mine is convinced that if we approached Hughes and told him that he’d have a hefty warchest to spend he'd be gone. Apparently Hughes has not really made convincing noises about staying since the links to the Newcastle job, and apparently he's been frustrated with a lack of transfer funds at his disposal. See bookies are favouring Hughes now too, and they were spot on about Redknapp being approached, despite Harry saying no. I wouldn’t mind Hughes. Not my first choice manager, that would be a big experienced foreign coach. But Hughes has proven to be a decent Premiership manager who can spend well and his football is not as gash as Allardyce’s.
  15. Obviously today's result against Man Utd has prompted this poll in typical knee-jerk fashion. We've been shite for a while, and now we've sacked our manager and can't get our first choice one in, things are looking very grim. Now despite belief that our players are capable of more, is it possible that we will be dragged in a relegation battle? It happened to Leeds while they still had a decent squad of players, dare I say it, could the failings of this season, high expecations, screams of abuse from 52,000 fans, sacking of Big Sam and terrible form... lead to us getting dragged in to a relegation battle? I'm personally still confident we will turn things around and finish midtable, although my guess of 9th is now looking ambitious and I think we will finish 12th or so. But what do the rest of you think?
  16. Here is shocking proof that Oliver was indeed correct abour Chris Mort's socks. http://www.clubpremonition.com/images/Chris%20Morts%20Socks.jpg http://www.clubpremonition.com/images/shooting%20socks.jpg http://www.clubpremonition.com/images/chris%20morts%20socks%20in%20china.jpg
  17. Can we all email Alan Oliver informing him that he is a useless cunt? I'm going to do it now.
  18. They can't defend much either.. PASS Hughes > Van Gaal But NUFC-online wants a foreigner... Hughes is foreign, the Welsh t***. He's British They can't defend much either.. PASS Hughes > Van Gaal But NUFC-online wants a foreigner... What has Hughes ever done to suggest he is even in the same class as Van Gaal? I watch his team week in week out and i'm impressed with them and their style of play... good wingers, delivering quality balls for predatory strikers... good football on a budget How many of us watch AZ regularly? Whenever I watch them they look very shaky at the back... I can't believe you're advocating Hughes over Van Gaal Berk Wonderful use of the word "Berk". mackems.gif Hope to see Twerp and Nincompoop soon.
  19. Do Mort or Ashley need to stay much? We tried for Harry, he said no. I'd rather they spent their time thinking about who will be the next boss and making efforts to get that man in than telling us what we already know.
  20. How is Harry Redknapp turning them down a "cock up"? they can hardly force him at gun point.
  21. There plan looks like it was to get Harry Redknapp? have you not been paying attention? that's failed, so we have to see what plan b is. So far nobody knows who that is as there has not been an approach to another manager yet.
  22. Nobody will give a shit that they were 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice. It doesn't matter, what matters is how much money you will earn, how much time you will be given and how much money you will have to spend on players. Other than that, I've never heard anyone turn down a managers job purely because they were not asked first.
