It is a truly incredible decision for Pope to attempt to sweep when: (1) He is never going to reach the ball before Aubameyang (2) The ball is heading towards the corner (3) There is a covering defender who can deal with the danger.

This is exactly it. Refs never give fouls for situations that are 'inconsequential'. I am not sure it makes sense, and i'd be asking for a penalty for my team to, but that's the moral code we have all seemingly signed up for, and at least this is one area of refereeing which is applied consistently. -

Feels like I am missing something on the Donnarumma alleged foul for the second goal. There is barely any contact and a whole new phase of play happens where Man City's defence have reset before the ball finally finds the net . -
Has his limitations but crossing is outstanding. Even has the classic Beckham silhouette in his follow through. Fair play to the bloke as I am sure he has learned this through hard work and coaching in the latter part of his career.

Yes it was a shit joke!

Born in Wickham - good to have a local in charge

He certainly has a negative slant on Newcastle, for reasons I don't understand, and he lacks any kind of charisma like Kieran Maguire, but in fairness he does his research and generally knows his stuff.

Unfortunate timing from me as I had not seen @Whitley mag update but Slbsn's latest post literally proves my point.

Whilst I respect Slbsn's views on football finance, in this case he is simply speculating on SCR drafting. It seems highly likely to me that the new rules will either follow the UEFA style 3 year average or include phased transitional arrangements to ensure their fair introduction.

I spent my youth kidding myself that Kieron Dyer returning from injury was going to be like having a new player.

We will be better off in our quest for European qualification by failing in our quest for European qualification.

I seem to remember Howe being under a reasonable amount of pressure before we beat Ruud Van Nistlerooy's truly terrible Leicester team at home last season.

The inevitability of losing this 3-1 is the only thing keeping me watching -

We are so naive in those situations. If that's Gabriel at Arsenal the whole team hound the ref making VAR signals -

VAR overrules the penalty had the previous decision not happened. -

Mackems have been excellent fair play

I thought the format was shit when we were not in it but as a proud hypocrite I now quite like it because it seems to suit our interests.
