  1. Somewhere round Tignes. Can ski Italy in the morning and France in the afternoon, apparently.
  2. On Sunday we were on a rapid counter attack with the ball just about to go into Palace box and the blokes next to me just continued to yap on about their ski holidays. They didn't even break stride in their conversation.
  3. But these days we can have safe standing and if you get like minded noisy people together, standing up without a doubt improves the atmosphere massively. In the last 20 years NUFC have done 2 x things to encourage an atmosphere and there’s absolutely no doubt both actions worked: 1 – introduced L7 singing section, which was also unofficial standing 2 – introduced safe standing in the Strawberry Corner So these days we could introduce loads of safe standing and also designate standing areas to be noisy areas. Then let ST's who want to sing or be vocal move there and people who want to sing or be vocal will know to buy match by match tickets there. And it would have the double whammy of forcing the silent or the miserable to move away from areas where people want to stand and be vocal. So no more of the "sidown, shuddup" attitude from the curmudgeons.
  4. If you’re a member the club don’t give a fuck about how many cup games you go to or don’t go to and your chances of a cup final ticket are minuscule. You could also unofficially sell your ticket to a friend and just forward it by email to them. If you’ve got an ST and have been to some cup games prior to the semi and miss next week, then you’ll still get a very good shot at getting a cup final ticket, if we get there. Assuming they don’t change the criteria, obvz.
  5. I wouldn’t know, I went for a pint at 35 mins and didn’t come back till 55 mins
  6. Same applies to pundits on the telly
  7. He was warming up on the touchline during 1st half yesterday and I could hear him giving in-game instructions and encouragement to both Gordon and Hall. Like having an Assistant to the Assistant Manager who’s allowed to go outside of the technical area. Pound for pound he must be one of the most influential signings in NUFC’s modern history.
  8. Yeah, if I can’t get in the safe standing corner I’ll go for the West corner and it’s decent enough. Plenty people happy to stand up at the back too.
  9. I hatewatch them a lot and I seem to remember thinking in 22/23 that they were in a stronger position than they deserved to be, they were hugely reliant on Rashford being on a scoring streak and he was propelling them to wins because he was in a pre-contract purple patch. Which is another example of where xG falls over, it doesn’t take into account emotional factors such as player motivation etc. Rashford couldn’t stop scoring, banged in 17 goals, got a new £325,000 a week contract, went off the boil and scored 7 the following season. Froggy will probably add some accuracy but that’s the nuts and bolts of it. And for the record, I don’t hate stats. I hate the over focus on predictive stats by amateur stat nonces presenting shoulda, woulda, coulda arguments about a game that’s played by real people, not robots.
  10. No I wouldn’t be confused. In the real world they dropped from 3rd to 8th, then from 8th to 15th. And their league points declined in a similar way too. It’s a pretty consistent decline and not a rollercoaster. And in the real world during that time they had a pair of managers who were clearly out of their depth and a toxic squad of overpaid underperforming players. All overseen by a Board lurching from one shite decision to another.
  11. Neesy be coming in here like
  12. How come I've only just found out there's a film about Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy's world cup ructions, with Steve Coogan playing the role of Mick McCarthy.
  13. Word of warning.....if you're the Man Utd manager and the Board give you £200m to spend on new players, then it's a sure fire sign that you're getting sacked within a few months.
  14. I'm usually in either of the Gallowgate corners or I go in the Leazes corners sometimes and it's always £55ish for a league game. Which has gone up 25% in 2 seasons but no-one raised that as an issue to the club as far as I'm aware. I'd have to be absolutely desperate to get to a game to pay the Milburn or East Stand prices, even though I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can afford it.
  15. It's like saying I'll take Chris Sutton telling me retrospectively what last weekends scores were, over a computer algorithm telling me what it thinks last weeks scores should have been. I deal with facts, not predictions. And I've got the same mindset when it comes to tapping lasses.
  16. It is like. There's a point when you just realise that the club are taking the piss out of fans and you can't be arsed with it anymore, even if you can afford the tickets. £72 to sit in a stand that has hardly been updated since the 1970s surrounded by silent fans who haven't been updated since the early 2000's to watch us play recently promoted opposition in the latest possible kick off time midweek in early Jan and the match is on the telly. I ignored loads of East Stand and Milburn resale tickets that were coming up for Leeds and got one in the Leazes East corner for £55. Which is still too expensive, but it's literally a few yards away from the £72 seats. I'd rather not go than pay £70+ for a standard ticket.
  17. Yeah, I read that post too and I didn't think you were comparing O'Brien to Elanga in a like for like way. I just don't think it was logical to compare the principle of "team mates won't pass to him" between the two players. Elanga has proven himself capable at the highest level, he's just been shit for us. Whereas Alan O'Brien was an unproven player who bounced around the lower leagues after barely playing here. Only connection is that both were rapid. We've had plenty who've come here as proven top flight players and been dogshit I just hoped those days were behind us as we've had a great hit rate since the takeover, but then the reality is that it's inevitable that some signings just won't work out. Chris Wood being the most obvious example of recent years.
  18. Alan O'Brien never made it as a top flight player, Elanga's just coming off the back of a couple of strong seasons in the top flight at Forest. He's not shit. He's just been playing shit for us. Probably because he joined a squad that was in confusion due to Isak being a cunt, the team then got off to a slow start so fans were frustrated and Elanga's been struggling for form and had some sections of fans on his back during games. He might turn it round here, he might not. Time will tell.
  19. Can I just shock you. I follow the real league table, it shows where real points have been awarded for real wins and real draws because one real team scored either the same number or a greater number of real goals than the real team they were playing against. It has no flaws. Because it's based on reality. And it's used to allocate prizes at the end of each season. They don't award any prizes at the end of the season based on shoulda, woulda, coulda statistical bollocks.
  20. How many tea ladies is Brexit Jim gonna have to sack in order to pay Amorim's severance ?
  21. Give the people who want to sing, shout and support dedicated areas and make those areas the majority of the stadium. The yappers and grumpy cunts who go because it’s their way of socialising and they have minimal interest in the football, tell them they can move out of the new noisy areas to other parts of the ground, or they can give up their tickets. Who gives a fuck if they complain about it, they’re currently adding nothing by being in the ground anyway so fuck them.
  22. Indeed, Porsche’s were mentioned. Hearing people yap all the way through a match is annoying, but it is what it is and I try to tune out. It’s better than slagging our own players off constantly. But laughing at a fan joining in with songs and calling him a day tripper is just a fucking disgrace. These entitled wankers need their ST’s revoked and banning from the ground.
  23. Right, I know I’m like a broken record and am constantly in here whinging after matches. But today I was next to two blokes with ST’s who just yapped about anything but football for the entire game. They had mild interest in the match and major interest in showing off to each other about their money and lifestyles. It was incessant. A lad a few seats along started joining in with some songs and the yapping pair laughed at him, called him a day tripper and sang Day Tripper by the Beatles. What hope is there when we’re up against cunts like that.
