  1. It's just so they can get the compo, and that's fair enough imo. If he was to quit and then go to Villa just because he knew they'd approached Norwich for his services, Norwich's manager that has taken them from League 1 to Premier League mid-table essentially gets poached for nowt. It is a bit backwards as you say, but there's a reason behind it which makes sense.
  2. If Martinez isn't going anywhere, hopefully that'll be enough to dismantle them a bit and send the rotten bastards down. They're like a turd that won't flush.
  3. The thing that irritates me most about Gerrard is his tendency to blast passes to people's feet from about 8 yards away. He always twats the ball far too hard, stupid scouse cunt.

    Nobby Solano

Fantastic. Who knows, he might become our gaffer one day!
  5. http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/21249335.jpg One for any Partridge fans.

  7. He did well at Watford (hence GG being so annoyed when he went back on his word to stay there) and mediocre at Reading. He was also successful and highly regarded as Chelsea's reserve team coach. And he's done a great job with Swansea. Despite all this, I still have this sense he'll fuck it up royal at Liverpool. Here's hoping.
  8. It'll end in tears if Rodgers gets the job. He doesn't seem like he's composed enough, and I think he may be a bit of a flash in the pan; he has no experience managing a club anywhere near as big as Liverpool. Plus, GG will have his voodoo doll of the guy out again.
  9. We should stay well away from Yakubu, although I do admit for £1m, he will be a class signing for a Premier League team.
  10. Do the Sun not realise that Rodgers has said no already? Please, please let them approach O'Neill.
  11. I know they all weren't him but some of those shows exactly why Mark Hughes wasn't cut out for that job. It's mint how City appointed the ultimate chequebook manager in Sven, when they had a moderate sum to spend, and then binned him immediately before the money arrived. And when the money arrived, they appointed one of the ultimate managers for getting decent deals on a moderate budget.
  12. Loved Hugh Dennis on MTW when he said "It's that time again to look away and turn down the sound, because here are next week's Italian football results"
  13. Barry getting injured is quite possibly the best thing we could have hoped for. He's too slow, especially when you consider the lack of pace in his potential partners. It's about time we started playing someone else there, his time as an England player should be (hopefully) finished.
  14. When can we expect the incredibly obvious not guilty verdict?

    Xisco

Ready made replacement for Demba, get in.
  16. 30 better replacements than Cabaye for Nolan why has there only been 3-4 other serious suggestions in this thread, then? Personally, I'd say Tiote for Smith is a wider chasm and a better replacement; Nolan had his flaws but what he was good at (being a captain + scoring fairly often) was very useful. Smith served literally no positive function whatsoever, he was a passenger, a burden and a fraud. Cabaye for Nolan is almost definitely second.
  17. I think we'd sign a player for double figures if it met all the criteria for potential profit, age, profile etc. It's a stupid rigid policy to have anyway; if we got offered Messi for £10m (I know) then of course they'd do it.
  18. Love the word juxtapose. Made famous by Super Furry Animals.

    Who would you let go?

Forgot about Xisco...he can fuck off as well on what 50k a week? Him and Smith leaving takes a huge chunk off the wage bill. I disagree about loans for the younger lads. For the season we are going to have they need to be training with the 1st team squad regularly and will be needed quite a bit i would imagine. We won't need them all at the same time. Sending them out for a month/three months at a time can only be good; particularly if we can have recall options.

    Who would you let go?

Smith, Kadar and Lovenkrands are already out the door, I would have said them. Otherwise, only really Simpson, Xisco and Obertan. Ranger, Harper and Forster I'm a bit indifferent about. Elliot, Vuckic, Abeid, Sammy and Shane need loans, even if they're just short-term ones. Guthrie will probably go but I'd like to keep him, ideally. Also hope we keep Tavernier.
  21. Pards signings off the top of my head: Hatem Ben Arfa (~£5m) Stephen Ireland (loan) Shefki Kuqi (free) Yohan Cabaye (~£4m) Demba Ba (free/~£2m agent fee) Medhi Abeid (free) Gabriel Obertan (£2m) Sylvain Marveaux (free) Rob Elliot (£500,000) Davide Santon (£5m) Papiss Cisse (£~9m)
  22. I can't wait til Gareth Barry retires from football.
