    Shola Ameobi

There's some brilliant discussions about Shola on Toontastic too.
  2. That's sort of what I'm getting at. Whilst Ryan Taylor is a gash footballer, he's generally in the right positions, even whilst playing on his wrong side. Simpson doesn't look comfortable, both positionally and with the ball, which is very fucking worrying for someone who's played at right-back for his whole career - a 'natural' right-back if you will. I also hate his stupid online bravado about how good he is and how he's playing well, etc. Retweeting the numpties who say he should be in the England team, fuck off man. That second paragraph just makes it sound like you have a grudge against him tbh, and so it would make sense why you're slating him so much tonight when 99% of people thought he was solid. I don't like him, aye. I've praised him in the past, however, if you could be arsed to dig that up. Maybe I'm just not looking when he does well, or something. I thought he was pants.
  3. Entirely depends on the side we choose. N'Zogbia will probably score, like.
  4. Ryan Taylor's problem is not his positioning, but his lack of any ability with the ball (barring set pieces ofc) and also his tendancy to make the wrong decision (dive in or stand ground). His positioning isn't what makes him such a poor footballer, although I'm not pretending it's brilliant either. Santon should have played in his place tonight, my argument is one of contrast, though. He's playing on his weaker side and has looked better than Simpson in most games this season, rose-tinted OVER DA WALL glasses firmly off. Having said that, "looking better than Simpson" so far this season requires you to play at a 5/10 level.
  5. Agree with all of those, although the defence didn't look all too solid in the first half today. A better side would have scored at least a couple.

    Yohan Cabaye retires

He did well at the defensive work tonight, faded really badly though. You'd like to think one of him or Tiote could take games like this by the scruff of the neck and start dictating the play - sadly, it didn't happen.
  8. He was, I'm pretty shocked absolutely nobody agrees with me on that. Taylor was piss poor but Simpson just infuriated the fuck out of me, he's capable of so much more.

  10. I'm gonna continue banging the drum - he was worse than Ryan Taylor tonight, although admittedly not by much. You'd think Simpson was the one playing out of position, with the way he's constantly caught in the wrong place. More intelligent/talented teams would have scored about 4 goals from our right.

Why the fuck was he selected ahead of Ba?

    Ryan Taylor

He was dreadful, but he wasn't the worst full-back playing for us tonight.
  13. I do. Simpson's positioning, time and again, makes me want to stick pins in my eyes. One particular QPR counter-attack from the edge of their own 18-yard area saw Simpson casually saunter into his own penalty area whilst Krul was gathering the ball from behind the goal. He's pathetic.
  14. A useful point, but let's not let anyone kid themselves - a better side with a centre-forward less shit than Jay Bothroyd would have leathered us in this sort of state. Krul 7 - relatively quiet, kicking much improved Simpson 4 - no improvement from his last shit game, one or two canny blocks but weak in the tackle S.Taylor 7 - fine Coloccini 6 - nearly got caught playing out from the back once or twice, one amazing bit of skill second half R.Taylor 5 - not great Obertan 5 - hot and cold Cabaye 6.5 - busy and good in the tackle, faded towards the end Tiote 5 - very poor by his standards, dallied on the ball far too much. just fucking pass it! Gutierrez 4 - full of shit Best 6.5 - did well but faded Shola 4 - pathetic Subs: Ba 5 - marginal improvement on Shola Marveaux n/a Sammy n/a

  18. Absolutely has to be Ba and Best up front with Sammy as the sub we bring on for one of them. Lovenkrands should be nowhere fucking near.
  19. Best, 1-0 tomorrow is advertised at 35/1 with Paddy Power on nufc.com - you can get 50/1 on Willhill's site.
  20. Pick a number between 1 and 10... .... ... ... that's it, probably close enough.
  21. worth a place on the bench ahead of Lovenkrands any day. He'll have an impact off the bench.

Can't have been drink driving, Ste refused the sale, remember?
  23. Getting the feeling it'll be 1-0 to either side. I think if we manage to weather the inevitable 20 minutes or so of heavy home pressure, we could well nick this in the second half. Fancy Best to score, might place him 1-0 or in an NUFC win.
