Ryan Taylor's problem is not his positioning, but his lack of any ability with the ball (barring set pieces ofc) and also his tendancy to make the wrong decision (dive in or stand ground). His positioning isn't what makes him such a poor footballer, although I'm not pretending it's brilliant either. Santon should have played in his place tonight, my argument is one of contrast, though. He's playing on his weaker side and has looked better than Simpson in most games this season, rose-tinted OVER DA WALL glasses firmly off. Having said that, "looking better than Simpson" so far this season requires you to play at a 5/10 level.

He did well at the defensive work tonight, faded really badly though. You'd like to think one of him or Tiote could take games like this by the scruff of the neck and start dictating the play - sadly, it didn't happen.

I'm gonna continue banging the drum - he was worse than Ryan Taylor tonight, although admittedly not by much. I do. Simpson's positioning, time and again, makes me want to stick pins in my eyes. One particular QPR counter-attack from the edge of their own 18-yard area saw Simpson casually saunter into his own penalty area whilst Krul was gathering the ball from behind the goal. He's pathetic.

A useful point, but let's not let anyone kid themselves - a better side with a centre-forward less shit than Jay Bothroyd would have leathered us in this sort of state. Krul 7 - relatively quiet, kicking much improved Simpson 4 - no improvement from his last shit game, one or two canny blocks but weak in the tackle S.Taylor 7 - fine Coloccini 6 - nearly got caught playing out from the back once or twice, one amazing bit of skill second half R.Taylor 5 - not great Obertan 5 - hot and cold Cabaye 6.5 - busy and good in the tackle, faded towards the end Tiote 5 - very poor by his standards, dallied on the ball far too much. just fucking pass it!
