At the risk of sounding like Pardew, he suffered from poor cover by Obertan. He was caught switched off with Anichebe for the second goal. I think he's been brilliant for us this season and I really like the guy, he had a poor game but no one really came out with much credibility last night. He could be such a weapon going forward but we all know the story with that.
-
He's really made himself look like an idiot after going on about practising that formation in training the whole week. If that's us 'prepared' or 'organized', whatever the hell he wants to call it, then he clearly isn't good at his job. Without Cabaye, Ben Arfa and now Ba gone indefinitely, he doesn't have the lads to bail him out any more from this long ball tactic of his. At the end of the day when this whole mess is over Pardew, Ashley, Dekka, all the players will go home as millionaires but once again it will be us who pays the price for everything- pouring hard earned money and endless time into the club and getting next to nothing in return.
-
I think the stick people are giving Everton is quite harsh. We made them look good a lot of the time but they're well organised and affective in what they do- they can play direct or on the deck. We're certainly not in a position to criticise anyone.
-
does that mean we can only fulfill our potential with some owner spending loadfs of their own money. doesn't every club have "that" potential ? Theoretically, yes, most clubs do have a big potential if they bump hundreds of millions into their squads- see Man City. I'm not asking Ashley to spend on that ridiculous scale, I think that with our network for scouting we should be capable of investing well and seeing a lot of positive results- last season was a taste of where it can get us! Look at our bench tonight- despite our injuries it was just embarrassing. No club our size should have to play Mike Williamson and Danny Simpson for 20 games in a season.
-
Once again our transition from defence to attack was totally inept. This is something that needs immediate attention. We have a fantastic array of personnel to hit teams on the break when they're out of position; Santon, Marveaux, Cisse, Anita, Obertan, and that's not including Ben Arfa and Cabaye. Everton were a good example of how a team should play quickly and move up the pitch fast, switch the play, play wide and attack space.

This isn't a knee-jerk, but with the club plateauing (imo) under Ashley, and unlikely to sell up any time soon due to his stubborn negotiating and a lack of buyers in the market, do people think that if we were to get relegated again (still a big 'if') then Ashley would actively look to sell up and take a loss? I think the chances would certainly be increased, with a serious backlash and probable desertion from fans. But unless there are buyers out there that are willing to invest, we're stuck with him. The saying 'be careful what you wish for' is very obvious with ownership, but I think it's obvious that this great club will never full fill its potential with this clown running it. It will always be Sports Direct interest before NUFC, and until that changes we're going in circles at best.

I just cant believe this has happened. How the fuck have we ended up in this position (Pardew, aye), it's devastating to think. IF (massive) we secure safety before the end of the season we should sack this awful man and give ourselves plenty of time to look for someone new. It really is so tempting to sack him now, I mean just how much worse can we get?
-
Yep, not a chance we have a hope in beating them. We scraped past them at home, and we weren't half as bad then. 'Sake..
-
He's got to go, surely tonight cements that. No one can deny this, yet still I cant imagine it happening- hopefully Ashley shows his ruthless side once again. Another unforgivable performance. Our team and everything about it is just full of negative trends at the moment. Confidence is low, tactics are lethargic and thoroughly negative, Ba leaving is negative, our position and results are all negative. We need a change, and fast. 2 wins (6 points) from our last 11 games. If that's not relegation and 'sackable' form then tell me what is.
-
No Shola from now on. Please dear god. Everton won the second ball every bloody time, you wouldn't think we're the ones fighting for our lives. THey always had an outlet for the break, a very well drilled, organised team who had it seriously easy for themselves from the minute we scored. Santon was terrible for the second goal, nobody had a good game for us tbh. No point in talking about our style of play, we all know how it goes/went. Absolutely devastated by this, we're in huge, huge trouble. All the results we need this weekend went our way but we blew it. At the same time we lose a massively influential player, we're blowing leads week in week out, playing a very poor quality of football with a good bunch of players under a clueless manager- it's all just so similar to the relegation season. Get Debuchy and (not expecting) a couple of others and we should manage to crawl on our hands and knees over the line. Heartbreaking.
-
Fuck this. Just fuck this.
-
Who would of guessed Tiote giving away that foul? What a bloody strike. Sick.
-
Everton have a great threat from crosses (as stats show). We should have a better chance of stopping the cross this evening with Simpson out!
-
Would be tempted to play a 4-4-2 diamond with that line up. Shola and Cisse up top. Everton look to be lining up as 4-4-1-1.
-
Changed my mind, cant see a win. Loss.
-
The first one doesn't make sense- Williamson is always so good attacking set pieces, how come he cant defend them.........
-
Hopefully tonight's one of those nights when adversity brings the crowd and team together and we get a very memorable and momentous victory that kick starts things again. Cisse (2), 2-0 win.
-
Yes! Get in. Hopefully its a 'Stephen Carr toe injury' and keeps him out for years...
-
It pained me to find myself agreeing with Phil Brown on SSN. The Jan. window is now just an extra opportunity for the big clubs to hand pick the players they want to win or qualify for their individual targets. It will be very interesting to see how active most clubs in the bottom half (bar QPR) are. It's great that we're getting Debuchy for instance, but this whole thing needs a complete shake up. It's now completely unbalanced and biased towards the rich clubs.
-
If Chelsea are refusing to pay his demands then that surely rules out a lot of clubs. In Europe it must be only Man City and PSG (plus a handful of Russian clubs) who can afford him- or daft enough to pay him. I think his agent could really scupper a move for him.
-
It is very disappointing to think that he wants to leave. After becoming such an icon last season and this season you would think he's made a home for himself, but his agent is clearly in his ear at every opportunity. Demba's got pretty much everything he could want at NUFC, despite the club having a very rough season this time out. If his agent was telling him that he thinks he should move because he's at a club with little ambition then fair enough, I can understand that, but if it's for the money and Demba agrees with that then that is deeply, deeply disappointing. And as for this knee theory, I'm not a medical expert but I think the media have blown it so far out of proportion. As Ba said himself, we're all a 'ticking timebomb'. Any players knee could go at any time; one freak tackle or awkward landing and that's their season/career over. Look at Ryan Taylor, I don't remember anyone tipping him for knee trouble. I do appreciate that he's getting on with age but its certainly not something that I'm concerned about. As much as I detest mercenaries and players using clubs as 'stepping stones' I will be gutted if we lose Demba as he is such a quality player and he'll be a huge miss in a vital period in the clubs season and potentially recent history. Modern football is fucking bollocks.
-
Don't be daft. I'm not.
-
Not really. We'll obviously be a lot better at the back, but selling arguably the best striker in the league is a massive step back. We all know what Cisse is capable of but I think that Demba's a better player overall and with his goals makes him an invaluable player. This is absolute horseshit. Just typical of this regime that we can't ever build a proper squad to compete, it's all about minimising costs and operating on a shoestring.

Get rid of this little runt ASAP, get Debuchy in and use Tavernier or Abeid as back up. Or, still, put Ferguson at LB and Santon RB if needs be. Any of those options would be more beneficial to us than having Simpson playing.
