  1. Greg Dyke is talking a load of rubbish. Our lack of success has been a feature since England became seriously involved in competitive international football in the 1950s. It predates the Premiership by a long way, and is primarily down to the lack of technical ability in English players. At the very top level, we get found out. If anything the gap in technique between ourselves and the rest has narrowed since the Premiership was formed, even though it's still there. And the current England team are better than the vast majority of England teams I've had to watch over the last 40 years. The early Sir Bobby teams, say 82-84 when the old guard of Ron Greenwood had retired and Sir Bobby was floundering somewhat, which incidentally he did quite a lot of as England manager, we had some awful performances and one in particular against Russia in 84 when he selected Steve Hunt and John Gregory in midfield which I can never forget. But even those days fade into insignificance to when Graham Taylor was selecting Greg Dyke is talking a load of rubbish. That's the worst England times I can remember. Bad times, for anyone not old enough to remember search for 'THAT Geoff Thomas Miss' on a popular web-site.
  2. ...and misspelling offence.
  3. Can't remember the last time I saw Man United players making so many individual errors. Passes going awry, clumsy first touches etc. It's a bit like watching us. I would be enjoying this if they weren't playing Liverpool.
  4. Jarvis is quick though I'm sure it was Cole who 'skinned' him near the end of the game.
  5. I'd back Geremi to beat him over 100m, could probably give him a head start anarl.
  6. Lot of modern games on here, no doubt reflecting the ages of forum members. Most recent World Cups have been pretty crap which is a shame but I still get genuinely excited before these tournaments. Best game bar none: France V West Germany 1982 Semi Final. That game had everything.

    Alan Pardew

Mick Quinn would have scored 8 tonight.
  8. Me too, only Krul and HBA leaving would upset me.
  9. Wouldn't be surprised if PSG had already been on the phone with a more realistic bid, hence he reason he didn't play.
  10. Exciting times ahead, I can sense a gathering of some of the finest footballing brains in Europe.
  11. It's even worse than you imagine, I had quadruple locks on all doors, steel shutters, house alarm on before you go to bed. They still tried to get in. This was a gated community, they took the electric gate off one night!
  12. Lavezzi's bird had a Rolex or something nicked and Hamsik's missus got car jacked when I was there.
  13. Sorrento and Positano are nice and the people are much friendlier.
  14. Napoli is a shithole, pretty sure he'd rather have managed us. That is true, but there are plenty of truly amazing places to live near Napoli. Possibly, but it's seriously one of the biggest s*** hole I've been too. I'll try again. Yes biggest shithole anywhere and I've been to 5 continents. The scran is great though, although a bit tedious after a while. I was there for a year and couldn't wait to leave.
  15. I lived in Naples Napoli is a shithole, pretty sure he'd rather have managed us. Napoli is a shithole, pretty sure he'd rather have managed us. Done this before but Naples is the scariest place I've ever been to. Been all over the shop but Naples is the only place I've ever felt genuinely scared like. I lived there for a year recently, utter shithole. I've been all over the world and rate Naples as the biggest dump. The pizza is awesome though.
  16. Or keep Cisse and give him some support.
  17. I was born in North Shields when it was part of Northumberland. Tyne and Wear is a monstrous carbuncle and should be deleted from the map.
  18. It gets to my nerves why 90% of Benfica fans are like that. I mean... why? It gets to my nerves why 90% of Benfica fans are like that. I mean... why? It gets to my nerves why 90% of Benfica fans are like that. I mean... why? Got used to winning probably. Anyway good luck to Benfica (from a part time Sporting fan )
  19. Benfica fans already in position here in my local. They are talking like a Benfica win is inevitable. Can't see it unfortunately.
  20. I really can't begrudge them that, they are playing very well and they won me £80 on Saturday.
  21. They should be thrashed to within an inch of their lives and deported to the colonies for 25 years hard labour.
  22. Half arsed defending, the type that would earn a face melting at half time from the likes of Ferguson.
