  1. Dowie's unique facial arrangement has got me wondering, who do you think the ugliest person in football is?
  2. There needs to be complete faith from the hierarchy in a Newcastle manager for the long haul for the first time in a while; not just seeing how they do at first. If the board, or whoever Shearer's superiors will be, can keep their minds focussed on a long-term strategy, then he may have a chance even if things don't go as well as expected. Re: Moyes, it should be pointed out he had been at Preston for a fairly long spell previously, so had a solid managerial background behind him. Hopefully Shearer learns fast.
  3. This is a big plus, as long as it doesn't mean we get relegated of course. I'm not sure if his shadow will permanently go. A very feasible scenario would be for him to be given 18 months - 2 years, then I dunno, a decade down the line, seeing him back at SJP.
  4. Must be sorting everything out in regards to who is coming in with Shearer so they can announce it all at once and save the speculation over the next few weeks. This is Newcastle, right?
  5. Just realised, Portugal are in danger of missing out next year if they don't sharpen up. 6 points from 5 games so far.

  7. Win-win, as people have said; keeps you up then he's even more of a hero, if he doesn't, it wasn't his fault. I can see this being a permanent appointment regardless of what league you're in next year.

The County Cricket Championship? Big changes are on the horizon for Newcastle.
  9. Not sure which thread to use, but still.. A very good move IMO. Dowie will help Shearer with generally how to go about things, and won't just be a yes-man. A good No.2 under the circumstances.

  11. Good point. Also wonder how he truly feels or felt about Keegan quitting just 4 months after "convincing" him to sign back in 97. Revenge on the cards? "Kevin.. it's Alan"
  12. you know what the system is ? Not a clue. But considering he said he wouldn't work under the structure (i.e. quotes in the OP), either the structure/system has changed, or Shearer's just changed his mind. Or Shearer knew no more than he had gathered from the press, the odd contact left at the club, or God forbid, the rampant speculation on message boards. Question marks galore though. Who knows.

  14. Something's changed. Either Shearer or the system.
  15. Has McLaren's Tracy Island made a departure yet?
  16. Yeah absolutely. Hopefully we'll hit 22 people soon, like.
  17. I thought I'd just remind everyone how awful our tops for next season look like being. That away/3rd kit. Seriously, wtf is going on?
  18. I'm assuming if more than 22 are able to get to the game, there'll be a few subs? Could be an idea due to everyone's my distinct lack of stamina.
  19. Wear the same hoody as me, in an effort to confuse our opponents. Because it'll obviously work. I'm gonna be as good as a Pirlo, Carrick and Makelele all rolled into one; apart from the intelligence, passing, tackling, positional awareness, stamina and general talent. But honestly, I'll be err, mint.
  20. I'll telly you why Brazil needs a player like Kaka. He can run through defenders with his pace, he pentrtes defenders, he passes the ball with a high accuracy and rarely looses the ball. He traces back to get the ball back and start the attacking movement, hes creative, he has a lot of flair and he rarely misses when he has scoring opportunities. He's a player that can make magic from just simple footballing, nothing extraordinary. He has such a great ball control not many have it like him, there is probably only one player in the world with better ball control and thats Messi (but hes incomparable at the moment.). I agree we need a striker, Luis Fabiano though hasn't been that incosistent although i agree he can fade away from matches. Pato should be given the chance considering hes been ripping apart defences in the Serie A. Vagner Love is crap, and people only rate him on his scoring record in Russia. The guy is just terrible. Pato and Keirrison (who has been banging in goals in Brazil and is only 19) is the answer to take this team forward, but Fabiano needs to be kept in the team. Off to Barca if I remember correctly. I haven't watched Kaka much in detail but what I do know is if he's on form, he's unstoppable. How serious have his injury problems been? I agree with Nixon as well in that there isn't a standout Brazillian striker at the moment. Pato should be given more chances at international level, mind. Possibly with Kaka just behind? (when fit). Ronaldinho is past his best, Robinho, although very talented, I don't think is consistent enough. The defence is a myth though, I was under the impression that although they sometimes seem disorganised, statistically they don't concede that many.
  21. Germany only 2-0 after 35 mins vs Liechtenstein. Sack the manager.
