You're absolutely right, but I'm sure you can understand why we're terrified that it could be a case of "too good to be true". Of course, and I'm not saying positive stuff means you can't have big, big questions about how you've got to this point. But as I say, the bottom line is you're arguably the club progressing the most in the whole league at the moment, maybe alongside Spurs. Ashley has to take a great deal of credit for that.

I can see why yous would be fuming with how he's acted over the years but maybe, just maybe, he knew what he was doing? The proof is in the pudding. You're 6th with a very decent looking team indeed and you're on the verge of getting a highly rated striker, as well as already having one of Europe's top scorers in the side. Not that I'm jealous at all, whatsoever.

That was hard work having to retype the thread title.

This is all good stuff, keep the ideas coming.

Been asked at work to do a brief, "positive" article on Sunderland. :scared:

Reina Johnson Skrtel Agger Jose Adam Gerrard Bellamy Suarez Downing Carroll Are you telling me if you get them playing together they couldn't challenge? Half of the defence isn't good enough, the forward isn't built to play the way they do, Bellamy's too old and Downing doesn't create enough goals. Oh and Adam's overrated. They sort all that out and they're a shoe-in for the title though Reverse Gerrard's ageing as well. Easy.
-
I'm telling you exactly that. At best, they'd finish 3rd with a lot of luck and Spurs regressing.
-
They're a lot weaker now, though. They don't have players of Gerrard's and Torres' ilk when they were firing on all cylinders. Have an awful feeling they'll spawn their way into 4th, mind, since they're, well, spawny bastards.

Shit chant that.

Excellent delivery, excellent finish.

That Man City defence is begging to be attacked. Has Richards randomly ceased to exist? 25 Hart 05 Zabaleta 06 Lescott 15 Savic 22 Clichy 07 Milner 18 Barry 19 Nasri 21 Silva 10 Dzeko 16 Aguero 26 Al Habsi 03 Alcaraz 05 Caldwell 23 Stam 31 Figueroa 04 McCarthy 07 Crusat 11 Moses 14 Gomez 16 McArthur 20 Rodallega

You fucking whore.

As I said, it's the lack of effort that'd irk me. When I see Louis "oh and it's dragged wide from 18 yards" Saha waste another chance, I'm pissed off but I'll get over it. What doesn't go away so easily is when I see him sauntering about - often not even that - when a simple few seconds of pressing at least would've made an opposition player rush what they were going to do. It's pathetic.
-
Get up and get on with it. Too many of these foreign pundits making a meal of half time analysis. Let the game flow. Lovely.
-
I saw him do the bare minimum you'd expect of a professional footballer up front. He sauntered around, held it up a few times, and lost it/gave up a lot more times. Incredible he's sustained a career in this league for so long. It's like an episode of 'Faking It' but the production team ran out of money and forgot to tell Shola to return to his normal life of professional apple-loving cyclist.

Leon fucking Britton.

I rate Defoe, personally. 11 in 22 this season, hard to argue with.

What's happened to that Argie (?) lad they signed on loan? I see Beckford has done well since he left mind For about a minute and a half on his debut, he resembled a footballer. So I guess it's not all bad.
-
He wasn't even off balance. It looked like he tried to bend down and head an imaginary ball.
