Howay Getafe. I like to see them do well - always struck me as a bit of an underdog team. I've liked them ever since they were cruelly knocked out of Europe by Bayern a couple of years ago. Athletic Bilbao as well, (as well as Barca for their ridiculous football generally).

I really do need an online betting account - some of the in-play odds are ridiculous. Lyon for example I saw, with about 20 minutes to go against Real, were something like 7/1 to draw the game. Outrageous odds.

Adam Johnson I hope. That would be a quite amazing turnaround. In the Championship in the autumn, in the World Cup by summer. He's never got a callup, however, will Capello put in the squad a player that he's never worked with? It's a big ask. But I'd like to think Capello will judge him purely on his form in the next 8 weeks. My concern is he won't get enough game time to impress.

Adam Johnson I hope. And his cause can only be strengthened with Lennon's apparently slow recovery at the moment. There's usually one who comes from 'nowhere' and Johnson looks like being this year's late entry.

So you lot dont rate Cahill dont yous? He's been a great servant for us but I think he is overrated, yes. It just strikes me there are many parallels. He'll pop up with important goals but otherwise, he's a limited player. Drop him into 4-4-2 and he disappears.

I'm fully expecting Cahill to scoop PFA Player of the Year. He pops up with important goals, don't you know?

This is more of a big shame than a big miss IMO. Whilst I would have taken him in my squad, I wouldn't see him as a vital cog in the machine. I have little doubt that this passing/crossing and experience would have come in handy, but it's not like we are majorly short in midfield. I feel very sorry for him though. I think he's been a quality player and in my view, his commitment to England and to the game of football itself is excellent. The only potential blemish is his questionable (early) move to America. As has been suggested, this could even be the end of his career but I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more of him within the game.

He's played a few times here and there and whilst he hasn't looked particularly great, he's fitted into their side alright. Make of that what you will. Malbranque has impressed the past 2 games, but other than that he rarely plays that well anymore IMO.

Had a 50p 9-fold that would have paid £72 today but suffice to say, Valenciennes single-handedly fucked it up.
