The best of the lot, the player now on the market for 100 million, they let go for nowt. Simply the actions of a man either losing the plot or deliberately destroying the club. The transfers since then have been expensive, desperate and lacking in direction or identity. But it's happened about because of the shite that needed replacing ASAP.

Fergie's last few years of transfers were absolutely abysmal, to the point where you start thinking he's done it deliberately so it all falls apart after he left.

Carroll (and others) couldn't score enough to keep us up in 2009, but he took the league by storm after 12 months in the 2nd tier. Circumstances can change and players can develop. Mitrovic and Perez weren't up to scoring the goals to keep us up but they have attributes and they're young.

McCormack would very much be a signing for this division and this division only, I think. Would make sense but sort of short termist. In an ideal world you'd be looking for somebody with the scope to step up the the top flight. Basically I'm talking somebody who isn't one paced and Scottish.
