We finished 15th last season with Pardew for one half and the biggest fucking idiot in PL history for the other, enduring one of the worst runs I've ever seen from a PL team. We've since appointed an actual football manager (regardless of what you think of him, he is one, which can't be said for Carver), signed 3 players who will improve us, gained Aarons/De Jong from injury (who will also improve us) plus whatever else we get from now on. I'd personally be stunned if we didn't do better than last season.

"Is this one of your birthdays?" Is this the birthday we are looking for?

Without accounting for attrition by injury/suspension, I really believe that Cabella will be the "odd man out" in terms of the more attacking players. I don't disagree with that, struggle to see where he'll play especially since he's starting off with an injury. Just listing him as another who could play where de Jong is atm (and would probably be better there than out wide) -

Perez was just about the only player I thought played canny tonight. -

That's the thing; Perez, Cabella, Wijnaldum, Sissoko could all play there as well - but their flexibility will see De Jong have that position nailed down. FWIW I still think he can be good; I just think he's not my type of player tbh. -

Again I'm loath to be too harsh on him considering its naff pre-season games but I'm not sold on De Jong. For me a #10 should be your most talented player, always on the ball, dribbling, looking for the pass. De Jong really reminds even more of Nolan than I expected; not anywhere near enough involved. He's technically sound in terms of first touch/ball striking etc as you'd expect from an Ajax graduate, but he's just not dynamic enough. Another thing is I can't see him fitting into the side anywhere else than where he is right now, which could be problematic. -

It was shite but it was a proper shitty friendly, hard to really take anything of note from it IMO... other than we need a fucking CB or 3 -
my archives are ridiculous, I'd swear if I dug around I could find a copy of it like

I dinnar, checked and we aren't paying owt out of the bank. Told them on the phone when they rang in the summer that we're cancelling and that's why the DD has stopped. Still sent us the cunts.

Nee idea what to do

So our tickets all came today, despite the fact we cancelled our direct debit 4 months ago. Whats gannin on?
-
Milner was nowt special for us. I'm sure he flourished at Villa because he played centre mid didn't he?
-
The best bit about this was The Guardian publishing an article afterwards thinking it was the actual Andy Murray Not to mention also getting the team wrong and saying it was Dortmund.
-
Tbh, Romero isn't a great keeper. Plays above himself for the national team. I'd be surprised if he's anything other than a back up even when De Gea goes.

Any system works with the right players and good coaching, whether we have either is another question
