It's a pointless argument but if you took Yaya Toure away from Man City and gave him to Man Utd then I think they'd win the league no bother.
-
Doubt anyone would be raising an eyebrow or even questioning it if he was going to Man City for the same fee/wages, probably partly because they piss money up the wall constantly without it making any difference to them mind.
-
Frustrates the hell out of me that we finished above Chelsea so they just went and spunked up millions and we're most likely miles behind them again.
-
Reminds me of when we were linked with Kevin Phillips in the Chronicle when he played for Sunderland, I'd rather not have had him because I hated him but I thought it would be funny so was very keen for it to happen.
-
Maybe he'll start playing Rooney in central midfield more often?
-
The top clubs always "need" top players and it's not like Man Utd are that spoilt for options up front anyway.
-
Eh, how's it baffling? I don't get this. Man Utd trying to keep up with the likes of Man City and Chelsea so they sign last season's player of the year to help them on their way. Good fit for both sides if his fitness stays the way of last season and not the way of a lot of his career before that.
-
If we lose 5-0 to Spurs I'll change my username to Cocksnogger.
-
In what sense? Good transfer for the player and the club IMO.
-
Hmm, as much as I like Shola he's never hit the heights in the career at all, hardly even came close. Whereas we have came close quite a bit over the last 20 years.

Newcastle United vs Sunderland. Take that, system! Nah seriously, it's even worse when you think about it properly. It's sort of like if they charged newspapers and magazines for talking about the upcoming week's TV schedules. People referencing and talking about upcoming fixtures can only increase viewing figures if anything. It's another short-sighted money-making exercise, which probably makes them fuck-all in the grand scheme of things.
-
This fixtures thing is so fucking ludicrous.
-
Well give it 2 or 3 weeks and it could be very different like, I can't personally guarantee I won't be moaning if we get to September with no more players coming in.
-
Disagree, think the vast majority are being pretty chirpy, realistic and levelheaded at this point.

I never know where I am with Ashley but I was surprised when we spent so much on Cisse in January. Yeah, we had a lot of the Carroll money left but we were going well in the league and I presumed he'd be happy for us to consolidate at best, much like the previous January when he sold Carroll without a decent replacement. To give a bit of balance we did take a massive risk in one position (centre half) and I still massively believe we were lucky to get away with that. Would have been disastrous if Coloccini got injured / Williamson continued with his crisis of confidence. We even had Perch emerging at that point, which just shows everything seemed to be going right. Touch wood, I can't see us making any big sales and can see us bringing one or two in. It's not as ambitious as I'd like but considering the rubbish we've been watching for most of the last decade it's not exactly that depressing. If we sign nobody at all though then it will feel like a missed opportunity and will probably work out that way.

Needs 100 posts, innit.
