As much as I really enjoyed Longstaff’s performance today, if we stuck Maddison in this team then we’d be an altogether different beast. Bruno, Maddison, Joelinton, Willock, Longstaff and Shelvey all competing for the midfield three would be ridiculous strength in depth.

I take my 7 year old son into the Gallowgate. I have to say quite often the people around me tone their language down and usually go out of their way to make him feel welcome. Quite often people come and give him a flag etc. I don’t swear when he’s there but also I think some exposure to swearing is good because I can then influence him in terms of him knowing what he can or can’t say etc. The old fella next to us the other day at the Villa game was even singing “Bruno’s flipping magic…”

I’m pretty sure we do stuff like this on our social media too. Our training images are always carefully selected to ensure we don’t give away too much around team selection or who is or isn’t available.

For the calibre of players we may want to attract, being in the top 4 as we go in to January could be quite important. We’ve got 4 league fixtures before the window opens, if we could muster up 8 points from them and still be in the cup, we’d be looking like a pretty damn good option to any potential signings. If we do land a couple of big hitters in January though I think we’d have to be prepared for a much quieter summer.
