  1. My Arsenal supporting mate reckons he’s dreadful and has a small club manager mentality and therefore will always have a ceiling as to what he can do with a club. Keeps banging on about the time when Emery was Arsenal manager and he played 5 at the back at home to Burnley to counteract the fret. For what it’s worth I think it’ll be a decent appointment but can’t see him ever breaking the top 7 with them. Think he’ll have them hovering between 8-10th in a couple of years.

    Dan Burn

Made Garth’s team of the week

I know the club won’t talk about specific league positions being the target, but I think internally they’d be aiming for 7th, and anything above 7th is an unexpected bonus. European competition next year would be massive for the development of the club.

Yeah I’d be absolutely buzzing with 7th and a conference league tour. Would genuinely fancy us to win it next year too
  5. I wonder if Bruno doesn’t play (I’m pretty sure he will like) then Howe may be tempted to mix the formation up and play 5 at the back. I can’t see him wanting to throw in Shelvey from the start or Jow if he’s not fully fit.
  6. Here’s hoping he’s still Klopp’s successor at Liverpool
  7. Hate it when you go to other teams forums and they don’t have a pre match thread up yet. I need to know their confidence levels.
  8. Going to have to go to the World Cup without his mate Paqueta, seems he’s done his shoulder in pretty badly.
  9. Hope he just signs it “Bruno’s dad 39”
  10. The fucking man, this bloke. Stay at the club forever. Find a role for him when he retires.
  11. Would love us to go for Tomori in a year or two to partner this guy once we decide to buy a new CB. Much more pressing matters to sort obviously, but that would be some CB pairing.
  12. Sancho didn’t help himself with the ridiculous dive like. If he’d gone down without the theatrics I think he’d have got the pen. Agree that they were probably both pens.
  13. This kid has all the attributes to be one of the best CBs in the world. Genuinely unbelievable we got him and Bruno for a combined £70m or so.
  14. Pope didn’t have a save to make until his kamikaze run off his line in like the 87th min or whatever it was.
  15. Yeah, if you look at his progress over the last 18 months he’s gone from 6 months of training with a non league outfit under Bruce, to 6 months of regularly playing League 2, to now 6 months of training under Howe and alongside players like Bruno, Wilson, Trippier and Botman. Even if he hasn’t played as much as he’d hoped, his knowledge, understanding and tactical awareness will have developed massively. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get an upper end championship loan in January, somewhere like Norwich or Blackburn would be ideal.
  16. Klopp ranting about us again. The fume is glorious. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2022/oct/14/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-manchester-city-ffp
  17. Whether it be this season, next season or 5 years time, we’ll soon be leaving this lot in our rear view mirror. It’ll be one of the sweetest parts of the journey.
  18. Well no, because if he plays it will be because it’s highly unlikely that he’ll miss the birth. There’s no way Howe would let him play if there’s a chance he could miss it. The first thing Howe did when he came into the club was learn about the players families. You do know only about 4% of children are born on their due date, right?
