The new deal is 50% of TV revenues equally shared between all clubs, and the remainder awarded depending on league position and TV audiences pulled (in a formula yet to be determined). There's also a provision that no club can get less money than it gets now (intended to protect Barça and Madrid, although it will benefit Atlético/Valencia in the short term too); so it will be a while until the others "catch up". What will happen is that Barça and Madrid will see their TV revenue frozen while the rest of the league grows.

The last Real Madrid ass man is managing in the C'ship. It's not unreasonable that he would come to you even in your current predicament. He's essentially untested. My Madrid friends (yeah, I have those) rave about him; I would be intrigued if you signed him.

Football's greatest - where does Lionel Messi rank?
Village Idiot replied to Dave's topic in Football
Agree. I'm going to the Nou Camp to see him at some point, I need to see him in the flesh. The good thing of having had to return to Spain, is that at least I can see him in the flesh. That I will be able to tell to my sons. -
Currently or the new model? This is fairly outdated (figures are a bit higher across the board for La Liga), but gives a good idea. http://s9.postimg.org/g34bmekfz/ligaabcweb644x550.jpg

Messi about his second goal: "It happened in just one second, I thought that he (Boateng) would wait for me to come in with my favored foot so I cut outside". Fucker makes it sound so simple. Maybe it is, afterall.

This strike is *because* we just changed to collective bargaining and the Spanish FA and the Players' Association aren't happy with their share.
-
La Liga and the High Council of Sport (the government's board that regulates sports) have rejected the FA's demands and the strike. La Liga's members will meet on Monday to look at the situation. Ultimately, even though La Liga is the one that organizes the competition, the Spanish FA provides the referees. No referees, no game.

Also, Suárez has done 0 controversial stuff this season so far. He's been one of our cleanest players (okay, not that high a watermark with Busquets, Alba, Alves around). That said, he's hyper-competitive, you can see when he takes to the pitch that he's dialed up to 11. So far it hasn't translated into him losing his shit. He reportedly received counseling after moving here, dunno if that's having an effect or it was just the Liverpool air driving him mad.
-
Suarez man. I've said it before, but he must have one of the strangest personalities in sports. He does loads of charity work off the pitch and seems to be the family man and is extremely nice to fans off the pitch, but on the pitch it's like he's in another world. Not that surprising to be frank; a lot of people are hyper-competitive in the pitch. Mou himself, for example, is reportedly a great guy outside football.

Just heard one of our pundits claiming that one in four Italian football fans are Juventus fans; is that true or is he full of s*** (wouldn't surprise me)? I thought we lead the gloryhunter table as a nation.
-
Not true, the guy in my avatar managed it last season. In the CL? Swedish commentator said they had 96 consecutive games or something like that with over 50 % possession in the CL Meant CL Fair enough then, it's probably true.

Ah man, I love life.

Fuck, I have to work tomorrow, I want to get wasted now

Worked wonders the last time it happened.

They list some other grievances, but those have been around for a while and they only called a strike when the new TV deal left them with less % than they wanted. So you can guess the motive.
-
Curse Neuer. Fun game.
-
Strangely calm, myself. Hot German chicks at the pub help I guess.
-
Man, what a mess. Now the Spanish FA has called a strike starting May 16th, in protest for the new TV deal (as in, they want their cut).
-
Funniest thing is that the tax changes they seek would mostly favor the highest paid footballers, not the guys at the Rayos and Levantes of the league. Mental stuff.
-
In one of the most tone deaf decisions ever, the Spanish Footballers Association is considering to go on strike to protest against their tax burden. Millionaires to go on strike because of high taxes. That will go down well in a country ravaged by recession.

Míchel It's a common meme in Spain that whenever a position becomes available Míchel is linked with it, the fucker applies to everything that moves
-
Problem with Ramos is that he's a gifted player but his decision-making has always been terrible. He was always caught off position when he was a RB, and finds himself always in the wrong place as a midfielder. That's why he has such a collection of red cards, too. He's succeeded as a centreback because it's the position with the least leeway to move around and f*** things up. Mourinho was smart when he moved him there.

Our record at Anoeta is shambolic. Our last win there was 8 years ago.

I don't see why not. Basque teams have historically played the most British football in Spain, anyway.
