Newcastle United promoted back to the Premier League
Wallsendmag replied to Figures 1-0 Football's topic in Football
This "nothing to play for" thing is a nonsense, isn't it? People band it about as if it means something, but it's just a throwaway platitude that doesn't take into account the complexities of real life. For all we know, Ipswich will play better with no pressure on them Like we did on the last day against Spurs. People throw it about like the absolutely relevant point it is. So there is a well documented decrease in performance from teams with "nothing to play for"? Aye. Remember Everton at sunderland last season? -
Thought he was poor. Found himself in some good positions but let imself down every time by either making the wrong decision or through a lack of quality. Without doubt he's been the biggest disappointment this season.

Ipswich Town vs Newcastle United - 17/04/17 @ 1500 - No UK TV

Would agree because he's useless but then again the alternative is Diame who hardly covered himself in glory when he came on last night and has also been sh*t this season. -
Needs Clark stood next to him to tell him what to do. Total liability when playing alongside Mbemba or Hanley.
-
That was nothing compared to what happened to him once outside. The stewards were trying to get him down to the police van waiting to take him away which was parked outside the Strawberry when he was ambushed by dozens of Toon fans. He literally had the sh*t kicked out of him before the police got control of the situation. He'll be in a hell of state this morning.
-
He came on from the east stand and was giving the w***** sign when he was walked off past the gallowgate it looked like he took a few digs from the blokes in the strawberry corner Him and another lad, who I assume was his mate and came out with him when he was thrown out, got a right hiding outside the Gallowgate afterwards. Pretty safe to say they'll be spending the night in the RVI. The stewards foolishly tried to take him out through the Strawberry Corner which resulted in loads of people running down to give him a kicking but he was pretty well protected by a wall of stewards around him. Unfortunately for him the stewards were totally overpowered by Newcastle fans once outside and, well let's just say he'll be sore for a long time to come and I doubt will pull a stunt like that again in a hurry!

Thought the red was harsh tbh but Larsson deserves the ban anyway just for being such a consistent shithouse. 100% this. Can't stand the twat!

Aye just seen Leeds had 8 wins to Sheff Weds 7 but Wednesday got 4 more draws. Still not a bad away record and proportionate to where they are in the table. First goal will be absolutely vital in this one. -

We've got the joint 6th best home record in the league and they've got the 6th best away record. They've got the joint 7th best. Can only see us, Brighton, Huddersfield, Fulham and Barnsley as having a better away record unless I'm missing one? -

Sent a lovely bouquet of flowers for Kath Cassidys funeral today.

Maybe pressure is the wrong word. Expectation is what I should have said. Not that much pressure on really given that we're so many points clear of Huddersfield with games running out but i think people just want promotion wrapped up mathematically so we can take a deap breath and relax. Promotion was always the priority. Going up as Champions would be nice but that's just the icing on the cake really. Wouldn't have thought any home game regular will go to SJP on Friday will be expecting a good performance either based on previous performances. -

Worse teams than Leeds have come up here and beaten us this season. And we've beaten far better teams than Leeds this season. Far better teams? Really? I've watched every home game this season and based on what I've seen there's nothing to suggest I should be confident of beating Leeds on Friday, especially with some ofvourvrevent performances. I'll be delighted to be proved wrong here bit I can't see us winning this one. Brighton and Reading are both better sides than Leeds - we've beaten both at home. Leeds beat Brighton comfortably 3 weeks ago. They'll be fancying their chances against us, and rightly so. We look, so, so poor at home. -

Unfortunately I'm with the majority on here. I think we'll get beat then hopefully back on track v Ipswich. -
They always play well at home against the bigger teams. They've actually got a decent record at home to Man Utd the past few years as well and Man Utd are awful at the minute.

Flying a plane over that dump doesn't really appeal to me so I haven't/won't donate to it but if people want to do it let them get on with it. If it's owt like the mackem attempt last season nobody will even notice it anyway.

Sunderland go through managers at a rate of 1 every 9 months. The last reason I would give for going there is for a long term project.
-
Totally agree. He's one player I've got no worries about in the PL next season.
-
No doubt Ashley will start docking his wages if he continues damaging the corner flags. Class player btw.
-
Did OK 1st half but tbf we were never under any real pressure. Started panicking towards the end of the match and ended up in a mix up with Darlow. Noticed Rafa lost his temper with him a couple of times near the end.

It makes more noise than the Leazes End tbf.
