Doesn't he just end up buying more shares when there's a slump and then makes a killing further down the line?
-
I only got into this thread to reply to one comment about him not "giving a f***". That's what all of my rambles over the last page have been in reference to. Fair enough and of course you're entitled to your opinion but I'll take the word of Kevin Keegan, who worked under Ashley, above yours. Nobody will ever convince me Ashley is anything but bad for NUFC as a football club.
-
So he wants success for the club, Champions League qualification, a cup win as well maybe, and to achieve these goals he appoints Joe Kinnear, Alan Pardew, John Carver and Steve McClaren to deliver this rather than appointing even a semi competent manager, and then to compound all this any player with any sort of value or potential is sold off as soon as an offer is put in for him. It does look a bit dubious mind and it's not hard to see why there's a certain amount of scepticism surrounding his motives. My personal opinion hasn't changed in years. He's here to make as much money out of the club as possible whilst using it as a vehicle to advertise (for free) his sports shops to a Worldwide market.

A top quality manager wouldn't put up with a 70 year old dinosaur buying his players for him though. That's why we bring in managers who get sacked from lower league clubs and are grateful for what they can get. As had been mentioned, Ashley's a control freak and a top class manager would demand far more say than what he would be prepared to give him. It just wouldn't work.

Just sums up the clip of our fanbase these days. Compare and contrast to the Newcastle end at Anfield on this day 32 years ago;

Perhaps because the police have no power to stop free movement of people? That's never stopped them before. They must be struggling to meet their quota of banning orders for the season.
-
Really? 1. Pardew dead. 2. Ashley leaves. 3. Resign Ben Arfa. Would rather Ashley dead. Pardew isn't our problem anymore.

Why you think Austin would want to come? Its not certain like.. Nothing's certain but we'd stand a better chance of getting him than Lacazette I know that much. As hopeless a club as we are these days we're still a better proposition than QPR.
-
Expect a few more of these stories throughout the month claiming we've bid huge sums for players who've no interest in joining us so that come the end of the transfer window they can come out and say they did their best to sign a top quality forward but just couldn't get one over the line. A far more sensible strategy would be to sign Austin and get Remy in on loan, bring in a central midfielder and see what happens.

Played his best game of the season on Saturday. Clearly having Tiote next to him made a massive difference. Still needs replaced mind.
-
He must be really short on options if he's having to select himself.
-
Aye but he doesn't track back enough and some of the other losers in the squad say he didn't work hard enough.
-
He'll play on Saturday. Hope he takes his chance.

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Postecoglu told to rack off by Spurs

Step forward Pardiola!!! -
I'd agree if we were in mid table. Unfortunately we don't have the time to persevere with a striker who has managed 3 goals in 17 appearances.

Think you've got to make a payment in February. I cancelled my DD last January and they emailed me to say my final payment was February so I ended up having to pay the final month with my debit card. Can't believe I did it looking back. I hardly bothered using my ST from Feb-May last season anyway so it wouldn't have really mattered had they blocked it. In saying that though it was probably worth it for the Jonas West Ham match at the end.

A new manager should be our priority this month, followed by a proper centre forward, a central midfielder and a left back. If we get those 4 people in we may stand a chance of staying up.
-
Feel a bit sorry for the lad. Personally I don't think he's up to being a main striker for a Premier League team yet but our transfer policy of buy young and foreign (from inferior leagues) with the hope of cashing in on him in a couple of years means we are relying on him to fire us out of trouble and on the evidence so far he isn't capable of doing that, again not his fault. A proper centre forward, who is already fit and able needs to be signed this month if we are to stand any chance of staying up and if that's the only signing we make I think it's vital Tiote stays fit and focussed because he showed us all what he brings to the team on Saturday and on his day can play at a level Anita and Colback can't get close to.
-
Exactly. Making himself look like an even bigger tw@t (if that's possible) by coming out and complaining about it now. It's not that long ago he was dedicating victories to Mike Ashley ffs.

Doesn't matter. If we can't do it for ourselves other results are irrelevant.
-
More possible we won't tbh. They have 3 points from their last 6 games, we have 7 points from our last 6 games. But we're less likely to pick up points than them? Swansea (a) Spurs (a) Bournemouth (h) Man City (h) Man Utd (h) West Ham (a) Palace (h) They've got Liverpool away in that 7 as well. We'll see.

Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle United - 2/1/16 - Post match reaction from page 26

Why should we have got something out of the game? We failed to score for the 6th time in 10 away games. If you can't put the ball in the opposition net you get what you deserve.
