My problem with him is mainly his lack of being able to pass more than five yards not physicality As per my previous answer, that's utter bullshit. I've seen him play multiple, pinpoint 40-yarders out of midfield game after game for Ajax. Your point stretches credulity even at SJP, though I can see where you're coming from, but in Anita we've procured, and ruined, yet another player. How that reflects poorly on Anita himself I know not. He was up against p*ss poor opponents when he played for Ajax. They walk through most of their games having enjoyed 70-75% possession of the ball. Doesn't make him good enough to play in the Premier league and he's been found wanting at a higher level. Aye, Feyenoord and PSV would never get near the EPL with luminaries like ourselves, villa, bournemouth and the mackems barring the way. Found wanting? No. Played out of position, played fleetingly, Pardewed - yes. If he were playing in an EPL team that wasn't the epitome of embarrassment then people would be singing a different song. Your average Eredivisie team (PSV and Ajax aside) would be League 1 standard. That's why they always go out of Europe early on. One of them even went out to a Scottish team last year (Aberdeen) and it's only ranked as Europes 9th strongest league these days. Believe me it's dross and being a good player there proves nothing, as we have found out. Feyenoord, FC Twente and Alkmaar in League One? Utter guff, as is all of your post, apart from correctly looking up the NL UEFA coefficient. How are PSV getting on in the Champions League, having lost three of their best players? They're not above the eliminated ManUre by any chance?! Now you're really starting to show yourself up. Twente are 2nd from bottom in the league and could be relegated due to the financial crises they find themselves in and AZ are just a bottom half side nowadays. Be honest you'd struggle to name a single player from either team. Just go back the last few years and see how many clubs they've still had representing them in Europe after Xmas. You're totally clueless. Clueless is an apt adjective to anyone who fails to understand that (more-or-less) outside the 'big three' in NL, the rest of the Eredivise and roughly half of the Eerste Divisie is pretty fluid. However, I can't be that clueless having done live ESPN commentary for the top two Dutch leagues for a season when my other half was working in Hoofddorp. I'll take ESPN's recommendation and the twice-weekly cheque over your ill-informed opinions if that's OK. Have you ever seen a game of football in The Netherlands?! Do tell. I had a season ticket at PSV Eindhoven from 2005-2012 if that helps.

9 for me. Even if we buy in January I don't trust the recruitment staff to bring in the right players needed or McClaren to get anything out of them.
-
Colback actually has more goals and assists to his name than Anita and he hasn't been here anywhere near as long. And he's completely out of his depth as well. Like I said both need replacing quickly if we're to stand any chance of stopping up.
-
Reads the game very well, to the point you rarely have to see him off his feet diving into tackles because he's already there. Presses the opposition very well and doesn't just run around after the ball. And the tidiness you detest is a job which someone has to do to tick over the play from the back and he's good at it. You might want to forget about Colback but you just can't. A lot of the time Anita is actually looking to cover out for his shitness or lack of positional sense. Tiote isn't intelligent enough on the football pitch to look after Colback. Be very surprised if that doesn't become glaringly obvious in the upcoming games if those two are selected which they most likely will be. He's hopeless man. Been here ages and you can count on one hand the amount of good games he's had in that time. Total non entity of a player. Doesn't score goals, doesn't create goals, not a great tackler and more often than not you struggle to realise he's actually on the pitch which should never be the case for a player who plays in such a prominent position. We need a completely new central midfield and we need it quickly otherwise we are down.
-
The fact that he believes we're playing well worries me. We've stunk the place out for 15/16 of his 20 games in charge.
-
Bad crack that like. Everyone should get home safely after going to watch the football. Hope he makes a quick recovery.
-
1000's didn't renew their season tickets. That's the reason they don't do the members only sales for the big games anymore because they know there's no longer enough fans to take up the seats.
-
Nailed on mackem win tonight to round off a truly shocking 2015 for NUFC.
-
Might as well play him for a few games and see what happens.
-
Except Colback isn't as good at tackling is 200% left footed and always liable to make a ridiculous error. Anita offers more in every aspect of his play. Albeit not much more. Colback has a better goal scoring record. I think they're both out of their depth as Premier League footballers. They prove that week in week out.

Totally devastated by the news. My dad would often take me down to Castle Maiden to watch the players train in the mid 90's and obviously Keegan and Terry Mac were great with the fans as were just about all our players (Venison used to like to get a flyer straight after training!) but Pavel was by far the best. He literally wouldn't leave until he'd signed autographs for everyone who wanted one, bearing in mind there was sometimes a few thousand people there, he would often still be there a good hour or so after all the other players had gone but he simply wouldn't go home until he'd signed autographs and stood for pictures with every single person who wanted one. Taking my rose tinted glasses off, aye he probably wasn't one of the best players we've ever had but I'd say he was the best bloke we've ever had play for us. RIP Pavel.

Arsenal vs Newcastle United - Saturday 2nd January 2016 - 3pm

7-1 (they'll score an og) -
Not convinced myself, it never looked like developing imo, never went past pissing about with the ball in defence. Aye he got far too much credit at the start of the season because he wasn't Pardew or Carver.

Leazes Terrace behind the East Stand is a magnificent example of Georgian architecture and Grade I listed. Could it potentially be demolished and improved though? there would be virtually no change in design for the replacement. I once thought a two tier stand overhanging like highbury built in the 90s, but too high for light I believe. Remember mates in the 80s saying when they knocked the west stand down we should have moved the pitch west- didnt see it myself at the time- but they were proved right. That's what I was thinking something link the North Bank at Highbury. Tbf, it's a very old stand now, facilities are quite poor and will need refurbishing at some point soon. The facilities in the East Stand are fine and were refurbished when the ground was extended to 52k and the old boxes taken out. It's dated now like. Queues to get in are longer than any of the other stands, takes longer to get out than in any of the other stands, legroom is poor and the concourse area is far more cramped than in the rest of the ground. Cracking view of the pitch though although that's not necessarily a good thing these days.

Have to say you got your point(s) across really well and enjoyed listening what John Anderson had to say in response as well. -

Listened to McClarens interview after that. He thinks we're creating enough chances but not taking them! -
We need one of those anyway to play alongside Mbemba.

There isn't one at the minute. However a successful, ambitious NUFC is capable of attracting 60k+ crowds on a regular basis. We're at a very low ebb right now and have been for a few years but we're still attracting 50,000 to our games. 20 years ago the likes of Spurs, Man City and West Ham were pulling in 25-30k. Now Man City are filling a 55k stadium, West Ham are moving into one which they expect to fill and Spurs will have a 61k stadium in a few years. It's called ambition and foresight.
-
Problem is that only one of them defending would make us even more shocking than we already are. This. We can chop and change tactics, play one deeper and one more advanced or put another body in the middle with them but nothing can make up for the fact that neither him or Colback are good enough options at PL level. They get exposed week in week out. We'll never control a football match with both these in the team.
-
My main problem with him isn't the sitters he's missing but more the chronic lack of pace on him. He literally looks like he's running in treacle. Now I know people will say the likes of Teddy Sheringham, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer weren't the quickest of players but they excelled in other areas to make up for that. Our record of bringing on and developing young talent is abysmal so I just can't see the reasoning in signing a youngster with such an obvious definciancy in his game instead of buying tried and tested for a couple of million more.
-
Yep. 2 weeks ago he came on and turned a loss into a win. That's a player I want to persevere with. We haven't really got time to persevere with a misfiring striker though. It's hardly like we're comfortable in mid table. We're halfway through the season and stuck in the relegation zone. Austin would have been a far better buy for us as he's proven he can score goals in a poor side that doesn't create many chances for him.
-
People can have different opinions on players you know. You obviously rate him as do plenty others, I don't, same as plenty others. If we all agreed on everything what would be the point. Now be a good lad and stick your dummy back in.
