I think Aston Villa have more or less shown XG to be a joke stat this year. As unlucky as we may have been, there are some clear player investment , tactical and in-game management errors for a while now that doesn't help our luck.

Not a big fan of this guy so far, not sure if you can teach striking instinct. There have been glaring signs that for the most part, he does not have it. Given his age and turning 30 by start of next season I think this is another one of the 'Premier League Proven' plan being a huge mistake last window.

This lad is a huge talent and I am not having this sell him in the summer notion - we/he need to find a way to get his form back and focusing on getting the most out of him as a regular starter next season as well. Could do with not fannying away from shooting a ball though.

Sadly not been good enough this year at all - depending on how invested the board is this summer and what other options are available you have to wonder do they stick with him or let him go because it ain't going to get any better for the reason of this season. It's at the stage of the season where you know what this season is and its nothing more than very average.

Strong contender for one of the flops of the season Even when he does the one thing right (pace) - the end result is rubbish 9 times out of 10. May as well still have Miggy/ASM etc

I think this season in the league is going to prove too much for us to put a proper run of wins together and I can't see us finishing above 7th/8th at best. If the club stick with him in the summer and he goes in with the same style, transfer strategy and philosophy next year then even his biggest defenders on here need to open their eyes a bit. I love Eddie, he is the best coach I have seen since supporting this club back in 2007 but it is clear that this season was a huge missed opportunity if we managed last summer better.

They are worth their win but the regression this season in some of these signings and absolute stagnation of our style of play is beyond criminal considering what was spent 'Premier League proven'

Its funny that we got two of those 'not a natural striker' now when our system is what it is

I remember being very impressed with him when he played against us for Chelsea at St. James' Park few years back - glad he's ours now. Quality player.

Other than the original 4th place finish season where he was absolutely part of an immense back 4 - his time here has been plagued with injuries and mediocre to bad performances. Thought he would be getting caps for the Dutch national team during his team here but this has not happened either. Personally would like to see what other options are available in the summer because he hasn't shown consistency or a fitness record worthwhile of being a reliable top 6 defender.

Botman is utter shit, hope we sell this summer.
