  1. Colo is the last non-Geordie lad I would see leaving tbh.
  2. Stat: we only scored once from a corner last season and it was Cabaye's. The short corners with HBA seems to work better imo. Near post Ba header against Wolves? in any case HBA hasn't taken many corners but most of them seem to hit the 6 yard box so i'd like to see him take more corners. Not a fan of Hatem's non-short corners so far. They seem too flat and low for my liking. Raylor seems most capable of lofting it, but I think his corners have too much bend that it curls into the keeper's arms. And if we do not like Cabaye's corners too much, the best compromise seems to be the short corner. (I think we got the pen off one v Spurs last week. )
  3. Fair point, may be Bigi Cabaye Obertan Amalfit Marv Cisse Thought this was poking fun at our fitness problems for a moment.
  4. My thoughts exactly. Hope we don't sell to them, and I think I'd try to hold out for more. Feel that they are there to be shot at, while Spurs and Liverpool could be as well if they don't gel with their new managers.
  5. Forgot that Cabaye was unfit and needed games. Let me edit my formation then....

  7. Harper Simpson Perch Williamson Raylor Obertan Bigi Amalfitano Marveaux Gosling Cisse Subs: Krul, Tav, Good, Cabaye, Jonas, Campbell, Shola We'll just edge this 1-0 or 2-0 I think. Fancy Marv and Cisse to net.
  8. Appears to me as the best of both sides of the coin of both Tiote and Cabaye tbh. Tiote's physicality and defensive qualities, Cabaye's passing and technique, added with his own bit of pace.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

And I think the lack of movement ahead of him was down to our 4-4-2 tbh. We'd have more runners going forward with a 4-3-3 and a 3-man midfield imo.
  10. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm starting to feel he'd go the way of Essien if he continues picking them up at this rate.
  11. In terms of defensive ability, I think there's not that much difference to Simpson. In the attacking aspect, he's miles ahead though. He's also got the pace advantage, he prefers to pass it than hoof it, and he has the "young, exciting, foreign prospect" tag. He's getting better the more he plays, while Simpson looks like the finished product. Thus, we get the view that he's better and more liked than Simpson.

  14. This. We've been spoiled for too long with that good season. This is the present now, and as much as I hate it, Chelsea simply bolstered themselves more since our last meeting because they have deep pockets. They have the edge fitness-wise, they were playing at home, and they are now playing with the tag of European Champions. Having said those, being outplayed by them is not a shame at all. There is still the reverse fixture to look forward too, which I think we'll have a shot at.
  15. Carroll deal is on rumors - waits until a credible newspaper publishes it. Carroll deal is off rumors - immediately change the thread title.
  16. Just to quote one of my posts about this that got buried in the match thread.
  17. Krul - 6. Not much to do really, No chance for either goals. Simpson - 6. Not bad, not good either. Saylor - 7. Looked assured and solid. Coloccini - 6. Same as Tayls but some poor touches. A bit rusty. Santon - 6. Good attacking runs but cut apart at times defensively. Ben Arfa - 8. MotM for us. The only attacking spark. Cabaye - 5. Unfit. Terrible set piece deliveries. Anita - 6. Good engine, and stamina. Only downside was the penalty. Jonas - 7. Put in a good shift defensively. Ba - 5. Some poor touches, should have scored. Cisse - 5. Invisible, same as Ba. Raylor - 6. Put in that good delivery for the Cisse chance, but was chasing shadows when tracking back v Hazard. Marveaux - 6. Looked tidy. Perch - 6. Same as Marv.
  18. No shame in that, but we need to build on depth to avoid these stretched squad cases again.
