Just wait until the add ons are confirmed and what they actually are. Either way, we've paid £42m up front. Less than what our derisory offer for Branthwaite was. For some reason you're trying to suggest that all the add ons will be simple to achieve, which is based on absolutely nothing. Just enjoy the signing gdm. You'd be waxing lyrical if you signed this guy.

We'll still be after him, we just need to sell now. Couldn't afford to be dragged into a saga for the summer so had to get at least one centre back in early.
-
The contract is very reasonable IMO. We've made a bid and contract offer for an extremely high rated player, and he has accepted. It's as simple as that. Under no illusions he'll likely want to move to Madrid in the future, and just have to hope we sell well. Worth noting Varane was on £300k+ a week. Yoro's transfer fee and wages spread over the duration of his contract = Varane's wages. It's sound business for a player who's resale value should be much higher than Branthwaite's. Stop making up figures man. It's £42m rising to £52m with add ons. That's €62m in total if all add ons are hit. Our latest bid for Branthwaite was £45m up front + £5m in add ons and was dismissed as being far too low and you found it to be a joke of a bid. It would have taken £65-70m for Branthwaite. This is a no brainier.

We've spent less. and not sure if you're aware but your value is higher the younger you are if you're already established.
-
You were criticising us last week for only offering £50m for a 22 year old with 40 games under his belt. Yoro is 3-4 years younger and is £42m + add ons. I think most people need to understand that almost every players preference will be Real Madrid. You think Isak, Bruno G etc. want to play for Newcastle over Real Madrid? Of course not. Garnacho, Hojlund etc. if the opportunity came to go to Madrid they're not saying no, but that's not to say that you shouldn't sign them and play them in the first place. We're signing what people are describing as a generational talent on a 6 year deal. If he's great for 6 years it's well worth the money, and I'm sure the people in charge now will be smart enough to not lose him for free. It's a positive signing.

From what I'm seeing it's €7m a year +€2m in bonus add ons. Works out around £110k per week base? It's a high wage for a teenager but don't think it's ridiculous.
-
The financial side of things is such a huge factor now. He's 18. If he comes to us, plays well, and Madrid want him then so be it. He'll be on a 6 year contract and they'll pay through the nose for him.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Anthony Gordon flying to Liverpool to take medical + finalise personal terms after #NUFC accept bid worth £65m + add ons. #LFC

He did OK but made a good few mistakes. He's refused a new deal. Only a year left on the contract. Happy with £8m to be honest given that he wouldn't have played barring a similar injury situation to last year. Happy to keep Evans for the year and shift Kambwala to raise some funds. Glad we're not paying £70m for him. Well hopefully anyway. Seems like we've learned our lesson. De Ligt for £42m is the sort of business we should be doing.

Our prison 11 starting to look pretty tasty.
-
Nah definitely not. Injured loads, then when trying to get to match fitness got injured again. Basically a write off season for him.
-
Brilliant to have Jonny around for another year. He'll be sixth or maybe even seventh choice, so let's hope he doesn't have to play. Fingers crossed for a season without an unprecedented injury crisis.
-
He hasn't. that's like me saying how has Tonali gone to shit. Guy played about 500 mins last season and is being written off. Nothing but a bit of hopium from opposition fans.
-
No I think it was more as a replacement for Eriksen. The vision was Casemiro, Mount and Fernandes, but Mount is capable of playing in many positions if required. Mainoo is obviously the best midfielder in history now, so Mount is a backup to three or four positions.
-
But we literally have nobody else who can play there. You can't have only one player in a position if you want to be successful. We've been very lucky that Fernandes is extremely robust but you need to have a backup plan if he isn't available. With no Mount that's probably McTominay who isn't good enough. Mount can and has played three or four other positions as well so the signing made sense from a quality depth point of view. I think you'll see a lot more from him this year if he can stay injury free.
-
Ole just never wanted him and then subsequent managers never trusted him. He's maybe just not very good. Career completely ruined at us though aye.
-
You're missing the point, and once again using hindsight as a means to an end. Had we signed him and played him and then a year later sold him for 500k, then aye fair enough. But as you said, he's been ruined, is a shell, and is just dead space on the squad and in wages. He was out on loan with options to buy and we had no takers. Was fully expected that he would leave the club for free once his contract ran out. Now we've got a guaranteed half million up front, 4/5m in add ons which Romano suggests are easily achievable and will be paid barring injury, and a further 9/10m on top of that if he actually rediscovers his form from 19/20 and plays well. He didn't exist to us anymore. Just £7m a year disappearing down the wage hole. Fairly baffling how people can't see how we'd be happy with it to be honest. I can't believe we got a fee at all.
-
For a large period he was barely playing and wasn't doing very much. Source: had him in my fantasy team.
-
I actually thought Donny was in the final year of his contract and was going to leave for free in the summer. So aye, happy with the deal. He'd have left for free previously.
-
Rising to £14m with add ons, depending on how he performs, which was left out. It's a good deal given where his career was. He was destined to leave for free. £7m in dead wages off the books as well.
-
Hojlund just had the best season of his career so. 21 incoming.
-
Zirkzee done. Sancho on loan to Juventus looking very likely.

Still find it incredible that the Glazers charged the club £30m to facilitate a sale which benefitted the Glazers. They're absolute bastards man.
