    Alan Pardew

I don't think there is much more he could have done to be honest. He came into a situation of hostility, which (depending on who you believe) was not his fault and I wouldn't have expected to get much from the games we have lost (apart from Stevenage of course). Still a disgrace the way it happened, but I am quite happy to give him my full support.
  2. I'd be delighted with a draw out of this one. I think Spurs are perhaps 1 player away from having a team that could genuinely be classed as title contenders. Our defence will have to be on top of their game for this one.
  3. I thought he looked fairly decent in his first game - direct and quick, just what we need really. If his wages and various clauses were to be believed then I don't think he would have been worth it though.
  4. It wasn't earlier. I suspect they have temporarily blocked it to non-members due to the Darren Bent transfer/post-mortem from yesterday.
  5. Nowhere near safe just yet. I think we've got a decent enough side to avoid relegation and there are most definitely at least 3 teams worse than us in the league (West Ham, Wigan and Wolves are the three that spring to mind). We still have some very hard games to play though and it would be easy to get sucked back into the mire.
  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/9362709.stm Or going at least....
  7. I was not aware of that, but if he is then it is good news for us.
  8. First 15 mins of the first half were poor and the rest was quite exciting. Whilst not wanting to detract from our super performance it has to be said that West Ham were the poorest team I have seen for a long, long time. In fact the last time I've seen a team as poor was when Blackburn came here not long after Souness became our manager *shudder*
  9. I was very impressed with Tiote tonight. He is just so good at breaking up the play, but more importantly he never wastes a ball once he has got it back. Not sure why he went off with 10 mins to go, but I hope it is nothing serious cos' we need him against the mackems to nullify the aggressive threat of Cattermole.
  10. What odds? What about the odds on Grant, Hodgson, Ancelotti and Houllier for the sack tomorrow?
  11. I think Bests career at Newcastle (and perhaps as a top class striker) changed with that first goal. From where we were sitting he seemed to have so much time to pick his spot and, more importantly think about what he was doing. I genuinely believe that if he'd hit the keeper or put it wide then that would have been the end of Leon Best in a Newcastle shirt. As it stands now you can see the confidence back in him and he looked a half decent player.

    Joey Barton

Joey Barton was fucking awesome tonight. Future captain (if he stays). Tiote was class as well.
  13. I don't think they do at the moment. Tony Pulis came up with the idea of doing just that and for the bottom three refs to be "relegated" at the end of the season http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/11/08/referee-relegation-good-idea/
  14. They are 13th I was looking at the disciplinary table it would appear. 20 Manchester City 21 45 4 57
  15. If the refs are allowed to rate the clubs then I reckon the clubs should be able to officially rate the refs as they seem to be above criticism at the moment. I am glad Man City are bottom the cheating fuckers.
  16. Now that fat heed has been sacked I find myself feeling a bit of sympathy for Blackburn. I never thought we'd see owners in the premiership who made Ashley and Llambias look competent, but this lot do it with a bit of room to spare. Last I heard there was a "fit and proper persons" test, which prevented that Thai bloke from taking over Man City (along with him facing arrest I believe), but christ knows what the criteria is to let his lot in. On the plus side - at least we are not the laughing stock of the premier league (for now).
  17. I think he's improved no end to be honest - can still be a bit shaky at times, but certainly the best right-back we've had for a while. His crossing has also improved markedly. Also he is not James Perch
  18. I've seen it a few times and it didn't look that bad - certainly a booking because he was late and a bit high, but it wasn't a two-footed tackle, which would have warranted a red - Andy Gray, Poll etc are just making a fuss because it is Barton. Players from the top-4 teams get away with worse, Gerrard, De Jong etc. It amuses me that Graham Poll is obviously really pissed off that Barton can't be punished retrospectively!
  19. Graham Poll hates Barton as well.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1343627/Graham-Poll-Lee-Bowyer-Joey-Barton-trouble.html
  20. I don't think he will add anything to the team. We are desperately short of pace in the team and he is not going to add anything there. He might provide a boost to the younger players, but I am not convinced our other veteran Sol Campbell has had the impact people thought he would. Mainly though he would only be a trophy signing and I imagine he would want a high salary for what could be his last year or two in football.
  21. Apologies if this has already been posted, but please god no! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_6630371,00.html
  22. Absolute fucking joke. Can't see any decent manager coming to hear to work with that fat twat.
  23. The people round me do sing when others start, but not otherwise. I count myself in that obviously cos' I just don't have the guts to break into a song at the risk of looking like a twat
  24. I thought the atmosphere was gash all night on wed to be honest. Didn't help that they messed up the pre-match songs with no Blaydon Races (that I heard) and the teams just trotting out for a few seconds before Local Hero came on.
