Agree. At RB we’ve already bought Trippier’s understudy and backup in Kraft and Manquillo.

Fitness issues. Debatable he fits our current system. Possible wage demands. Noises he’d prefer a move south. Cheaper & possibly better alternatives that might fit better if smart in the transfer market.

One downside to us getting better is it brings out all the idiots in our fan base contacting the media. Personally wish we’d keep things in general quite low profile but I know it will never happen ?

I find a lot of people’s attitudes about ASM a bit odd. So thought I’d try and Mansplane it ? He’s got a rare talent. A match winner. He’s under contract and isn’t on a big wage. He’s liked by the management and players. Off the pitch he’s done nothing but shown generosity to the people of the area. He’s showing a great attitude in trying to fit into a new system this season and was devastating and probably our best player until his first injury. Every time he’s returned from injury and got up to speed he’s looked one of our most creative players. With a bit of luck we will need a bigger squad playing 3 games a season with plenty of rotation and ability to carry injuries at certain parts of the season. Going forward if we want to extend his contract he’d comfortably fit into our wage structure. We don’t need the transfer fee he’d command and replacing him would cost way more. …Yet still at the nearest whiff of unavailability people want him sold ? (PS We have lost 6 times this season and he’s played only 230mins out of a possible 540mins not being involved in 3 of them and arguably our MOTM in two of them) (PPS It’s noticeable in the games we’ve failed to score he’s usually not been available either)

The fee the club wanted and the wages he wanted. We ended up paying 3/4 of the original fee and 1/2 of the original wage demands. Even the biggest clubs can’t just buy every player. Sometimes it’s sliding doors moments and this was ours.

This. Also what no one is mentioning is how composed he remains in these volatile atmospheres. He never visibly gets flustered and just tries to do the basics sensibly. These qualities ultimately lead to the first goal which ultimately changed the game.

Thought it was strange the choice of commentators for the 21min video. Ended up being Beglin & co who didn’t even do the Sky presentation. Was expecting Raisbeck and Anderson as per the highlights and extended highlights.

He’s very good on the radio as a pundit. Diligent when arguing a point and always seems balanced. Never looks for sound bites or click bait. Sees things some others doesn’t. Very much like his playing style. Not sure he would suite commentary at all.
