Coloccini and Williamson let 5 goals in the last time they played and both received 3 match bans, that's s*** form. The defence isn't always the reason that we let in goals, our midfield was s*** in both games. This, we allowed both Bolton and WBA far too much time on the ball, I dare not even look at the possesion stats today.
-
Barton in the centre tends to stay to deep for me, when he's out wide he seems get involved much more and infact in the games he's played out there has pretty much bossed th midfield (he certainly did against the Mackums and Arsenal)
-
Nolan has played in most of our poor games, holding today up as a reason to play him doesn't stand up when our heaviest defeat of the season was with him in the team. Nolan as his worst is almost as bad as Guthrie was today as in both cases we play with a man down. I understand that statement is subjective and either of us could be right or it could be somewhere in between. Im not claiming the result today would be any differant with him in the side dont get me wrong, I just think his weaknesses are over analysed and his qualities completely ignored by most unless he scores (in which case the forum goes into overload as to how he is indespeniable to the team )
-
He was caught in possession because he had nobody moving and creating the space he was looking for. Thats the thing though, Guthrie gets caught in posession because he's s***, Tiote gets caught in possesion because everyone else is s*** Tiote for me needs to stop turning into his blindspots too often as he has lost posesion a few times in recent weeks because of it, and eventualy players will cotton on and purposely charge him from behind whenever he wins the ball in the hope he turns the ball towards them. He is absolutely brilliant at what he does, but when we are playing s*** and underpressure like today he is always more likely to be pressured into giving it away cheeply.

I agree, hence how I think it's a bit cliche when it gets tossed about, I have no doubt he does have an effect on the team like but not to the extent that they somehow fold withought his valliant presence amongst them.
-
He is when he doesn't score. Not realy like, he's not the best on the ball and his array of passing is nowt to be envious of but he offers a bit of bite in the middle (a lot more than Guthrie has shown recently) and he always offers top support for Carroll. I don't think it's any coincidence that when Nolan plays Carroll seems x10 the player he does when he's not. His presence on the pitch (both vocaly and physicaly) seems cliche but it cannot go unoticed, he definatly is the type of charicter that can boost a team low on morale. Obviosly there are a lot of cracks there that are papered over when he gets on the scoresheet, but they aren't as bad as people tend to make out when he doesn't.
-
I would say Nolan was the most underated player to be honest, he's no where near as inept as people on here like to make out.
-
I'm willing to wager that he does that because there's jack-all movement around him. I'm also willing to wager that he'd prefer to be sitting with spelks in his arse from the Twente bench than play alongside Puffrie again. Simply awful

Was justabout to post the exact same thing Cajun, Chelsea are also proving how difficult it can be with key players missing.

Probably faked tbh, I know I would have

Although he was poor today he was made to look even worse by the fact Tiote doesn't get forward either (but he has an excuse as it's he's job not to), we we're effectively playing with 2 deep lying midfielders who both prefer to play the simple pass and lack the ability to split a defence open (ala Barton). I know he's a better payer than that as i've seen it with my own eyes, but if he keeps this up then I echo others sentiments, get rid.

At the very least Nolan would have pressed the ball and atleast tried to move forwards, the first half especialy we just let WBA have the ball and do whatever the pleased with it, it was embaracing to watch.

And the tropical wonderland that is Russia was a better choice? The English bid was by far the best for everyone in every way minus the Iberian weather. -

what a fucking rediculas choice, I imagine the Russian attempt at hosting a world cup would be the equivalent to a geriatric disco at the local comunity centre. Such a boring fucking country -
