All of this. And Wishere "in the Makelele role"? I can barely contain my excitement. I'm a Spurs fan and even through my blue and white glasses I can see there's a lot more to Wilshere than that. Surely he should be asked to play more like a deep lying playmaker a la Pirlo rather than a standard DM of which he is not. Once again England have a missed a trick in not setting a long term plan. Glad to hear that about Tav, like. I've been impressed every time I've seen him play, got the potential to be a decent player imo. I've not seen so much of Edmundsson, but what you've said seems to be similar to the comments of another member on here (OCK I think), in that he wants to play up top more than out wide, and can go missing for large periods of games. Like you said, you'd have expected him to be able to make quite a large, and consistent, contribution in the conference.

He failed in the Championship ffs. He was injured for most of it. How did he "fail" By not contributing anything when he was fit. The benefits to us, if we were to sign him then?

It gives him experience and gives us an impression if he looks like he'll be able to manage it at the top level, even if he doesn't make a massive impact you can usually get an impression of whether or not they'd be able to cut it in the future. I couldn't see Aliadiere being much better than Loven and it's just an extra wage on our books.

I wouldn't start Ranger, not would I sign Aliadiere. I'd start Best, with Ireland behind (who should be available soon), and I'd rather we put Phil Airey in the squad rather than wasting money on a wage for Aliadiere.

Watch Messi's goals. 80% of them are defensive errors. I would, i don't think he'll ever be a starter for England he was brought through at a young age and got him noticed he doesn't look that good for me. I agree, and I think it happens a lot in England. Players potentials are often overrated if they break through at a younger age. He's got potential to be a good player, just not as good as some people are making out imo.
