That’s why I think it’s very hard to learn our lesson. Because what is the lesson? A few seasons ago it was that we overreached so we have had to set maximum limits for ourselves. These maximum limits mean we can’t move that quickly because we’re not meeting the seller’s prices, at least not early in the window. So what are we supposed to do differently? Genuinely the only thing I think we could be doing differently is targeting players in the 19-22 year old bracket internationally who are breaking through but are a risk. That would make them more affordable but obviously it’s not great for Howe given the pressures on him to keep us in the CL places and challenge for trophies

For a team like us who don’t have top tier pull we’re always likely to do our business late in the summer unless we pivot completely to buying up and coming risk players. If we want established players I think it’s very hard for us to do our business until late July onwards

Never has a transfer been more destined to backfire

Jamaal’s such a good lad. I know it’s just a bit of nice content and they’re not digging anyone out but what the fuck is going on with Willock? His head appears so far away from the mentality Howe wants in players. You take a look at an Elanga and the professionalism he has in training and how he approaches the game and it’s clear how he’s made the absolute most of his ability and he’ll continue to grow as a player. You take a look at Willock and he’s gone backwards as a player, I know there’s the injuries but I think it’s more to do with his mentality and desire why he’s not developed as a player as he’s got a lot of talent

Gordon definitely suits a longer crop

What a load of complete guff that is, just straight up lies

It’s become a pathetic addition to the standard journo dross nowadays

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

I know, he said that after the fact. Excellent diplomacy. I remember how long that transfer dragged on after the fact an offer was accepted. He was holding out like crazy. Again, we’ve heard that his preference is Liverpool well before an offer was made by them and we had an offer that was very close to Frankfurt’s asking price. It’s pretty clear he would come here if there aren’t other options but he’s hardly pushed for it has he? If he’d really wanted to play for us he’d have been here previously / we’d still be in for him right now in this window -
Bentancur?

Excess piss + unavailable WC = drenched garments

We’re unbelievably short up front though, with nowhere near enough creativity behind

Eddie would need to be put on Beta Blockers and a diet of Benzos if he had to manage a squad of dwarves

I’d say the proof is in the fact the deal hasn’t happened despite huge interest from ourselves and a previously accepted offer by Reims -

It’s more an accumulation of trying for him over three windows and we lost out despite bids being accepted by Reims and a very good offer to Frankfurt. He’s always been looking for a better option. There’s a difference between not turning down one of those clubs and basically holding out until one of those clubs come in for you -

I’d not be happy about it now, even though I love him as a player. Can’t handle players being here who don’t really want to play for us -
This is such a classic transfer for all involved. I like him and he’ll be one of their better players but West Ham’s ceiling and his ceiling are a good match for one another

He’s not average like, he’s quality but hopefully he’ll flop in the premier league. Then all we’ll have to worry about is the Saudi league buying him for £1bn in a year’s time -
This is clearly going to get done, not even stressed about it but from a pre-season perspective it would be better to happen sooner rather than later
-
How much is Kluivert? I’d say he’s not worth anywhere close to Ekitike. I’d not go near Kluivert unless it was under £35m which it wouldn’t be

It’ll be a huge priority on their list of CB qualities

We’ve been friendzoned so hard by this lad. Made us an album of photos together, said there was no one else he felt as comfortable with and then just as we were about to ask him out he delivered the cold hard truth that he doesn’t see us like that. An absolute fucking dagger -
Step up Park, there’s a place for you playing the 10 role this season lad
