They definitely both need to play, especially against weaker sides going forward. I love Miggy but for sides that defend deep I think we should have Gordon on the right with Barnes on the left. Can’t wait for Willock to come back so we’ve got more pace at moving with the ball in the side. Joelinton needs benched until he’s fit

Maybe we’re so flat because of last week’s result but if so, that’s a big worry in itself

Don’t think he’s been one of the worst today, probably above the average. However, we’re not making the best use of him, he’s too deep. He is our best passer with slide rule passes all over the place last season. He’s not getting on the ball in the right areas to affect us creatively

Taking the piss out of us now, played us off the park. Fair play, they’re a very impressive side and deserve all the success they can get with the model they have. We need to look at the midfield and figure out why it’s not working. I’m worried about Bruno, Tonali and Joelinton in this formation. Overall though, everyone looks below their best and that’s extremely concerning. Why are we so flat at this point in the season?

We deserve to get beat 3-0 here, they’ve not had a ton of clearcut chances but they’ve absolutely destroyed us in all areas of the pitch pretty much all game

Really doubt it’s tactical, especially after playing a whole season of it last season and having huge success

Agree that it’s not working, Bruno is such a creative player and he’s not getting into positions to do that. Tonali has a great cross on him but I just don’t think we’ve figured out how to make use of him yet, and we’re not making runs into the box to use his crosses. Joelinton is just off the pace

No idea why the team’s energy is so flat and simple passes are being messed up, and we’re not reading where to make the right runs and passes. Hope Howe makes some changes immediately here and really lets people know their place is under threat unless they up their intensity. Trippier has been off it, Tonali has lacked sharpness, Joelinton lacklustre, Gordon can’t get into it. It’s both tactical but also to do with the mentality the players are bringing into the game. Let’s hope the second 45 is a different game

He’s my favourite player but Joelinton needs subbing for Anderson. I’d probably take Gordon off for Barnes as I don’t trust him not to put a foot in while he’s on a yellow. Miggy has been barely in the game too so I don’t know what to do there, potentially switch Gordon over for fifteen with Barnes on and then if it’s not working, put Murphy on for Gordon

Joelinton, what are you doing?

They knew exactly how to play us last season and we finished fourth. They’re a very good side and they’re at home. Yes, we should be better and our intensity and sloppiness is very frustrating. Tactically, something needs to change with our midfield but let’s not lose our heads here
