Well, clearly I've been mistaken somewhere which makes me look a right tit. I'm not attempting to down play his failures but equally I think it is unfair to down play his successes. I thought the forest gig went wrong early doors because he was essentially lied to on the first day and didn't get on from there with the board? No excuses for Twente or Wolfsburg but at least he acknowledged his own failings which make him a bigger man than either of the last two clowns.

What's with this "worse than Pardew" shite? Are people being serious with that? Pard's was appointed after abject failure at Southampton then went on to be the biggest twat I've ever seen manage Newcastle and there have been a few. If we were bringing on a random European manager with a league title to his name, a domestic trophy, a UEFA cup final and a term as manager of their national side everyone would be frothing at the gash. People would rather some guy who they've never seen over achieving with a team in some league they no nothing about. It's easier to hate a guy when you know more than one fourfourtwo article and a wiki page scan but that doesn't mean the dream appointments are free of failure. It's a meh appointment and I can see how it's unpopular because it's exactly the kind of appointment we expected, indicative of the way the club is ran but they guy himself is not to blame for that. I'm guilty of all of the above but there needs to be some perspective some where between the "it's not Garde" doomsday and "it's not Carver" shrugging. Pass the kool aid all that.

Is that Will Hughes guy actually any good or another Zaha/Ince/Delph style world beater?

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

He tried to force a move away from the club under Pardew. Twice. Aye though, best mates. Basically Red knap and Defoe. -
Uninspiring but considering our last appointments he is depressingly the best manager we've hired in about a decade, excluding Keegan, if true. I don't get the hate wagon mind. If he is endorsed by Carr hopefully it will mean at least two of our main team see eye to eye on the direction of the club rather than seeing good player left out of the side out of spite, ignorance or stupidity.
-
People would happily take Garde and he was in pretty much the same position before taking over at Lyon right? That worked out OK. Still, smells funny that its being so widely reported. Would still rather get someone who might fail opposed to someone with a track record of failure so I'd be interested to see where it went.

Aye, like that time when we wanted Loic Remy but he went to QPR so we bought no one and struggled. But at least we got him back on loan! Or that time when we wanted Debuchy but didn't want to pay for him so we bought no one and struggled. But at least we got him in when we looked like we might be relegated! Persistence is the name of the game. Certainly preferable to moving on to other targets or indeed having other targets.

Iago Aspas? Wtf is this Sevilla team all about?

Especially after this weekend, I really hate players getting carded for celebrations. Takes all the fun out of it. What's the point really? Was there a traumatic celebration event that I missed that led to this rule?

Sandro has been injured all season hasn't he? and Luis wasn't able to displace Azpilicueta which is hardly a crime. Some ropey calls. How can a player "flop" after they've been at the club for several seasons?!
-
Surrounded by shite. Of course he looks demotivated. I understand how we all think they should care, but if I took a job in France on the promise of one thing then found out that my managers where loathsome, my colleagues were Mike Williamson level morons and nothing would change the I reckon I'd be demotivated. Professional pride and money only go so far. I'm not denying he's had shocking season but so have most of the players. The difference is we know that Sissoko can be a good player and with the right manager and the right players I think he could be vital again. He would look twice the player if we had better players around him. It seems obvious but if people passed and moved then everyone would have more space and people wouldn't always have to look to the one or two players who can beat a man to create everything. Instead the players feed the ball to one another from one static position to the next and the one or two players that look to get it forward end up isolated.
-
I'd happily take Rodgers, even though as a man he is someone I can't really stand. I can see that despite his flaws that he has a vision and he cares and that's all I really want. At this stage, just a man who knows how he wants the team to play will do me. Non of this Souness/Redknapp style "11 good players" nonsense, someone with a philosophy. I'd rather it be someone attacking and forward thinking but I'd take organised and ruthless if it came to it so long as I could see those strengths being played to on the pitch. At the moment we have no strengths, no identity and no ideas.

Plural? Up or down our only truly quality player is one and done.

I don't want more of the same but I also don't want to see the club relegated in the hope that it will solve all our problems. What if it doesn't? What if he still doesn't sell and we've got the exact same problems in the Championship. If they won't change their plans for premier league riches why will the management change in a lower division? Pardew almost relegated us twice and he was bulletproof so I'm not convinced that if we went down ashley would just leave. he hasn't shown anything thus far to suggest he's desperate to protect his investment so how afraid of the championship can he be? Might think we will bounce straight back again and the cycle can start anew.
-
Cannot abide the idea that we should be punished as fans because of someone else's mistakes. I think a lot of people expect us to go down, get sold and then come back up. I fear we'll go down and the cycle will start again. We should be removing him through demonstration and abstinence from the club, not hoping we cut our own throats because it might hurt Ashley a little bit. A rich man being slightly less rich at the expense of the club and the hope that it would be enough to drive him out is not a gamble I'd be willing to take. We'd be a harder sell as a Championship club as well. Not that I have another bright ideas to remove him mind.

The championship quakes at the thought of having to play against John Carvers Newcastle. -

No way we'll be gone today I don't mean mathematically down or that it's and either or situation, I just think if we don't beat QPR we won't beat West Ham next week. If Spurs continue being shit and Hull win then I have no confidence that we'll get out of it. Like I said, it's not an either or statement. Just that knot in your stomach telling you if things go as bad as they possibly could today then it's probably over. -

Feeling a little bit ill about it all. Could be safe today, could be essentially gone today. Unpleasant. -
I know it's an obvious complaint but it boils my piss to see someone so blatantly lie and subvert the facts and not be called up on it. In January he was billy big bollocks, company man telling all who came to his door how the squad was fine, in fact it was too large and Santon had to be sold. Then he's used the squad as an excuse for record breaking ineptitude, either through its size or its "DNA". He said he didn't have say on transfers and that he was extremely happy with that arrangement. Now he want's to bring his own players in and wants ANOTHER go with players he's personally selected. He said the club needs marquee signings, someone to excite the fans which is obviously why Cabella's on the bench today and HBA was turfed out. He said he would "not just be another Alan Pardew" and he would be different. Now he says he can't influence the team because they aren't his players. He says that the fans should direct the flak at him and not the players because he can take it, then he goes and bleats about how he needs better stewards around him because the fans are being mean. All of that bullshit is then swept under the rug by ex-pros and journos who say how hard a time he's come of it and no one seems willing to point out that he changes his tune week to week. No one challenges it. It is disgusting to watch.

Find it odd (and refreshing) that he's admitting to being Newcastle supporter after all this time. Everything I've ever read by him or heard him say has been very diplomatic about being passionate about the North East as a whole rather than specifically supporting a single team. In fairness, that is touched upon in that piece but I've never seen him come as close to saying that Newcastle is categorically "his club", even if it has always seemed that way. Either way, it's a good article.

Shame he couldn't come out with the "play midfielders in midfield" master stroke last week. -
Tbf that bit is probably true. "Ayoze mate, do whatever you like in the final 3rd. The rest of you bastards divn't cross the halfway line at any point, leave it to Ayo."

Not exactly sure who people think played worse than Colback yesterday like. With the exception of your standard dross. Saying he played better than Gouffran carries no weight.

Now that's more like it.
