Those early VAR fuckups have really adversely affected our momentum and psyche I think. We were on a real roll at the end of last season but I think those VAR decisions have hit the team’s belief hard. Injuries haven’t helped mind but I think there’s a mentality element to it too. We need something to kickstart the good feelings back into existence again.

I don’t care what happened at Everton, that was an aberration. Probably a lot to do with the club too. He’s been brilliant everywhere else.

We would not have had this takeover without Rafa. Fuck Bruce and whatever he said about keeping us ticking over. Rafa showed what this club could be with a bit of belief and full backing and PCP, Reubens and PIF saw that potential while Rafa was there. I don’t think it can be overstated how important Rafa’s part in this was.
