Everyone playing for set pieces and favouring a direct, physical style and/or passing sideways for passing sake. Time wasting and diving totally out of control. Teams often cancelling each other out. I’ve enjoyed a lot of the European games this season. At least it is a clash of styles and you often get some drama.

So now players getting Howe’d is a negative? He actually makes them worse?! Barnes has become a much better all round player since getting here and Gordon’s only decent seasons numbers-wise are for NUFC. So of all the things to blame for his inconsistency or at times, crap performances. Coaching seems an odd one. He was crap for us when he got here. Before having the best season of his career. I say it all the time on here. But when he was a dickhead that started arguing with everyone. Was when he was at his best. Played with a massive chip on his shoulder and full of aggression and determination. He has never technically been a good player or a great finisher or anything like that. I rarely see that from him now. I’m guessing he has just matured as a person and doesn’t want to be like that on or off the pitch. Not sure it has helped his game though, IMO.

You were seeing him go past players down the line or off the ball. I barely saw that yesterday. Bar one very good run when he came infield and then I think it was Gordon that fucked up after Elanga passed to him wide right.

His decent performances are still some flashes in the Fulham cup game and PSV, where to a man we were great and they were equally as terrible.
