Welbeck gets about 5-10 goals a season usually. 2 against us already
-
Yeah. Shame he played Welbeck onside and all. As he’s probably been our best player.
-
I knew I should have carried on cleaning up the garden. Would have been more fun than this steaming pile of wank.
-
It was shit from both of them. Dubs could have played an easy pass to two players or safety first. Gives it away. Then Tino stands and watches Joao Pedro have two easy touches in front of him.
-
Deserved fuck all. Got fuck all. Livramento has been brilliant. But he was shit in the build up and then played him on there.
-
How is Taylor so card happy. Yet that isn’t a yellow
-
Top top save that. Paul Merson voice.
-
Just what our thin squad (quality wise) needs. Extra time 10 v 10
-
For all he speaks well off the pitch. He’s been a complete tool on it for a while. Attitude has been off most the season, sulking about and not busting a gut up and down like before. Now he’s just more than likely fucked our season here. FA Cup, League Cup and top 5 chances all taken a big hit. All from some Joey Barton’esque decision making.

Said for a while I’ve not liked Gordon’s carry on. What an utterly brain dead cunt.
-
I thought he worked back well. As Tino and Gordon were very direct. Well, at least in the first half. Obviously he scored. So hard to say he didn’t do much. But it’s going straight at Dubravka if not for Trippier’s touch. I didn’t think he did much at all otherwise. Tino had him locked up most the game.

Botman on one leg would be better than either of this pair FFS
-
Gordon was brilliant for half an hour or so. Infuriating since.
-
Nah. 43 minutes gone at 1-0 up and an old experienced head follows him into an area that’s going to leave us totally exposed if we lose it. Daft as fuck. Him and Gordon are far more at fault than Schar for the goal.
-
Agreed. Some intelligent runs and most the while. His passing and link up play has been an upgrade on Murphy. Unlucky not to get a couple of assists and all.
-
You’ve outed yourself as an East Stand ST holder here Only thing that wakes the fuckers up

Thought for all their pretty passing and space they were creating between the lines. It was fairly comfortable. Some brain dead decision making and a lucky deflection got them back into it. It is frustrating watching our team struggle to string 5-10 passes together to get upfield. When other teams regularly come to SJP and have decent possession in good areas, mind.
-
Wait, what? People are blaming Schar for that?! What is Burn doing going shit or bust trying to win the ball on the touchline 45 yards from his own goal?
-
So so sloppy. They are there for the taking on the counter and we’ve let them back into it. They’ve barely had a shot other than that. WTF is Burn doing there 2 minutes before half time. They’ve been masters of working the ball and finding space in tight spaces and between the line. Getting dragged out there trying to win it and leaving us wide open in the process.

Ha. Just reminded me of the bloke that used to sit behind me: “Wayne Ruttidge and GOUTierrez”

True enough. I’m also not after meaningless possession. We are already quite good at that along the back 4 I suppose the way we end up going quite direct and involved in fairly hectic games. Which usually see us at our best, are what I was alluding to. Kind of hard to exert control in games like that. We’ve done the low possession, counter by going direct really well at times. Spurs at least twice in recent seasons. Arsenal a few times to a lesser degree. City, even when we’ve not won. But I often feel in games we lose our way somewhere. Then really struggle to regain momentum after looking so good for 20 minutes, a half, an hour or whatever. It’s like the players have switched places with different people or something. I think that’s when individually certain players technical ability really breaks down. Along with the system being neither here nor there. As a team we look really disjointed and chasing shadows. I’m not sure it’s always on the midfield. Although somehow, they always look the most overrun. I think in time as we get better players across the board. The team will evolve just due to having more complete players in the team. I also think Howe will make tweaks. We definitely have to be mindful of certain players and their limitations and I think he manages and masks those. I think this thread alone so far has shown that the team is greater than the sum of its parts.

Sven Botman: Out for up to 8 weeks after minor Knee operation (Howe)
Lush Vlad replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Assuming he plays against West Ham. Which is a fairly big assumption at this point. Would that be his first game in over a month? Was it Arsenal where he came off injured? We really need him back for the final.
