  1. No doubt? Is there any evidence backing that up? As I read that there was allegedly a National Front involvement, hooligans from Chelsea or some London club. That was shot down in the article I read?
  2. Assuming KI was referring to Hillsborough? In which case he is spot on. Pretty misinformed if he is on about Heysel, no?
  3. Read a pretty harrowing article on this in GQ the other week (I was in the barbers, like I'm sophisticated enough to buy anything other than Nuts and Zoo). As if the game went ahead?! Seemed like plenty of people were at fault, with lots of different factors involved. But I think the silence from the city, LFC and their fans over the years is deafening. I’ve even tried to debate it with a couple of ‘actual’ scousers down here and they just brush it off. “Yeah well, it was revenge for what some Italian fans did to us over there and they started the fighting anyway….” Yeah, that excuses it then does it? Fans from a different club beat some of yours up, so you attacked men, women and children in the neutral section. I know it was a different time and hooliganism was rife. But it’s still abhorrent and disgusting behaviour from their so called ‘fans’. http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/comment/articles/2015-05/29/heysel-stadium-disaster-30-anniversary
  4. The interview was horrendous. So badly staged and scripted. Probably had a fucking autocue for all his bullshit and lies. I fucking hate this club at the minute. Didn’t even manage a full day of being happy/relieved that we stayed up. As I ended up watching this the morning after and it just reminded me how doomed we are. Another 5 years or more of, at best, mediocrity, shit managers and relegation scraps. Oh joy.
  5. Good darts that. I'm not bad with betting on the nags (flat only) but I am the worst football punter ever So don't worry lads, we're staying up!
  6. I'm having a bit on the West Ham win/draw and Hull win double. Pays around 5.5/1 I think. I won't mind losing money if we stay up. But I may as well profit if/when we get relegated.
  7. I am somehow quietly confident. We can't rely on sunderland getting hammered twice and if Hull win and we only draw, we're down. So basically, only a win will do. May as well go for it, surely? Of course, whether Carver has the balls or ability to manage a win, remains to be seen. West Ham's season has been over for quite some time it would seem. Whilst Allardyce will be fired up to beat us and potentially send us down. I don't think his players will be quite so arsed, however. I also don't think Hull beat Man U. I can see a draw and that's it. Don't ask me why I am confident of getting a win. 1 point in 30 is hardly promising But I don't think it will matter anyway, as I can't see Hull winning. Pathetic situation to be in though. It really is horrendous. Compared to the last time we went down, I don't even feel bothered or nervous?! Perhaps I'm confusing my emotions, which is why I somehow seem chilled out about it all and think we'll stay up. Just a complete feeling of apathy about the whole club the last year or so. I just don't think I care either way anymore
  8. God post St1pe. The last line may be a bit of a stumbling block though
  9. If true, then fucking fair play! Doesn't matter if he is absolutely loaded. It's an insane amount of money and it's going to help massively. I have seen those videos of him off the pitch with the mascots and like the one above with the young lad trying to speak Portuguese. Seems like despite his arrogant demeanour and attitude on the pitch. He may actually be a really decent bloke.
  10. Love this little Jersey Shore/Romany Gypsy looking mofo. Probably just echoing what others have said. But he is one of a small handful of decent players left at the club. One of the only likable ones as well!

    Sunderland

We need some of their luck from that Everton game. With the complete lack of any creativity. We need someone to score with a flukey deflection and someone else with their hand to get us the 3 points to see us stay up. This is going to be another season, where our pathetic derby losses are going to see them stop up. They should love us by now. Can't even remember the last derby we won FFS :'(
  12. Pah. More chance of us hiring Uriah Rennie as manager.
  13. I think I have watched MAN DOWN Boateng about 100 times now. It gets funnier and funnier. It's not like Messi has just turned Titus Bramble inside out. He's just done that to a top level, champions league and world cup winning centre back! I can't get my head round the way he just goes down. It's like someone felling a tree.
  14. Watching that game last night, I had mixed emotions. It seemed like a totally different sport to what NUFC play. Made me depressed at how shit we are and how pathetic our style of football is. I also then imagined Messi running at Williamson or Steven Taylor I'd pay good money to see that. Messi is a joke. The first goal was pretty impressive. As Neuer seemed unbeatable up until that point. The second was just insanely good. He then got an assist to cap the night off and kill the tie. Unbelievable player.
  15. That statement about "further antagonising fans". I don't think it's possible to fuck off the fanbase any more than they already have. Some documentary highlighting our shady as fuck owner and his dodgy business practices is the least of my/our worries. We already know he's a cunt of a businessman and runs his shops, outlets and factories like a first world sweatshop. I think the years of mediocrity, shit football and cunt managers are more of a concern to the fans. The only thing that could make this worse is if we go down and then appoint shithouse Carver full time.

    Papiss Cissé

I honestly just cannot get over how bad he is all round, for someone that has been in pro football this long. That said, his goals per minutes ratio is pretty amazing this year. Strange after two years of nothing he starts banging them in. But he has been around 1 in 2 elsewhere before his move here. Urgh. I don't know what to think anymore.

    John Carver

The next 7 games, bar Villa. Holy fuck. Even Villa might prove difficult if they manage to get a new manager in. I'm sure we'll fluke a win against a top side, Pardew style and nobody will point to all the shit performances and hammerings because of it.

    Papiss Cissé

In the system they play yes. I think he's underrated TBH. Because he looks and sounds like a clogger. Not saying he's a natural finisher like Cisse mind. Cisse up top as a target man for Stoke? Aye, that would work.

    Papiss Cissé

I've absolutely stitched myself with the hypothetical top ten club thing as well. I don't think Stoke or Swansea are particularly decent. As if we're nearly in the top ten I'm sure the prem used to be better than this.

    Papiss Cissé

Starting regularly? No, I don't. Fair enough Swansea have lost Bony and Gomis has looked pony, so now he would get a game there. Weren't they rumoured to be interested at one point.

    Papiss Cissé

Eh? That's rubbish tbh. He'd get in most teams, quite easily. He scores goals consistently, that's enough. Like who's team would he get in on a regular basis? Key word being 'decent'. Which top ten teams would he be a regular starter for? Going abroad, perhaps he could get in a better side than ours, but that isn't particularly hard is it? We're a shower. Saying that, you can point to our shitness as an excuse all you want. He didn't consistently score goals the last two seasons. Ba and Remy managed it for a longer period if memory serves. Both got the moves (payday) they wanted. If he is that good, why haven't teams come in for him with a serious bid? I like the bloke. I think he is wasted in our negative team. But I think his all round game is pretty crap. His touch is poor, he is born offside and his link up play is hit and miss. He's half decent in the air, but far from a target man to hold it up. Oh, I've wasted my time. I see this has been covered in the last few posts In summary, his 1 in 3 record is decent and he is a good player for us. I just don't see him playing for a top club in his career.
  22. Lush Vlad

    Papiss Cissé

Would he play for a 'proper team' though? It would be good if we weren't such a negative, abhorrent side for sure. But, Cisse is such a poor footballer, I don't think he'd ever get signed for a decent team. If he did, he wouldn't be starting games. He can barely manage that for us and we're a disgrace
  23. Pretty fair I guess. I'd argue he had a good season for us and could have been potentially very good for us, if the 4-5 games or whatever it was in Keegan's 4-3-3 was anything to go by. Sadly, the rest was a load of shit and injuries like you say.
  24. I'm sure they withdrew the offer. Didn't he go public with his criticism or say something dodgy at a talk in? Him and Nolan knew they were going at the end of the season when we came back up. I remember the extra long lap of honour they did, where it seemed as if they both knew that was a goodbye. Turned out Barton played 2 more games the next season, then went.
  25. Gutted for the bloke, as it sounds pretty worrying and he's had a shit start to life here. But I'm not really that arsed about him not playing TBH? I still fail to see how he'd fit in the current team. The only slightly enjoyable thing about our team now is the pace we have going forward and on the counter. He doesn't really fit the bill. Lumping balls up to him, with him being asked to play as a target man for Perez is hardly going to suit him either. So he'd just be wasted I think. Get him fit for next season and hopefully get an actual football manager in and maybe we will see him shine in the #10 role. It is annoying that we spent a fair bit by our standards, on a player that will miss a whole season.
