    Sunderland...

Gardner and Elmohathardon cost the same as Cheeky and the Dreamboat. Discuss.

Who hijacked the man of the match vote? Ha ha Bramble got it, Chamberlin did not look impressed. Class

    Sunderland...

Bendtner was good in patches for the first 20. Bramble and Brown were an absolute train wreck at the back, always rated Sessegnon but he was woeful tonight. Dunno what Bruce is up to, he's going to get himself sacked at this rate, he's being far too blatant.
  4. Same here. Spurs are one of the higher level teams which will exploit any weak flanks. Ryan Taylor's done just about enough against teams like Blackburn and Fulham but I wouldn't want him in there against the better teams. As I have mentioned in another thread, we have the Spurs game, Wigan then that tricky run of 5 games against Stoke, Everton, Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea. We need Santon in the squad for the start of this 7 game run in. Could be a real confidence booster if we put in a performance and got something from the Spurs match. Speaking of full backs, Simpson v Bale not even a big fan of Bale, but he'll tear Simpson to shreds.
  5. You'd think so! Got a feeling Pards is going to take ages to play him for some reason though Sifu. Need Raylor to make some more fuck ups (like the one on Saturday) just without leading to a goal this time!
  6. So if he comes through that ok, he should be on the bench Saturday? Want him to start against Spurs on the 17th.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I believe it's 15 seasons out of the last 20 we've finished higher, not that I'm counting............

Must try harder. To sum up the last 7/8 pages. A few people (mad people) had suggested he's better than Rooney, then just said in certain areas of the game, then the majority have quite rightly said he's nowhere near as good, different type of player, wait until he's played a full season before even making a judgement etc etc.
  9. Where did you get those stats mate? I use Guardian Chalboards usually, but swear half of it is made up!
  10. I'm starting to love him. Can only admire his ability to become personally offended by every kick of a ball that doesn't end up in the net, and even sometimes when it does  MOTD commentator was raving about Ba's first, Lawro and Hansen said it was class, not wor Birtles. He was absolutely livid, spent about 5 minutes bleating on: "Where's the defending" "Why isn't Samba there marking him instead" "You can't let him turn in the box like that" "I'll say it again really poor marking there" The whole game he went on like this, so depressing, I nearly muted the cunt.
  11. Does the cross at Villa count as his assist, if so that's 2 in 2. Saw 60 minutes worht of highlights on Football First, he was an absolute beast. Long may it continue

    Alan Pardew

Spurs at Home and Stoke away as well don't forget, barring Wigan at home (which we should win, certainly need to) the run from Spurs at home on the 17th October right through to December looks really tough. Will find out a lot about the squad and Pardew as a manager.

Where is that interview from? All sounds very promising! Would like him to learn English TBH. I know everyone is different, learns at different rates, more interested than others etc. But Marveaux's English is superb and although I've not heard it yet Cabaye has gone from not speaking a word of the queens in July/August time, to doing a full English interview in the middle of September

    Leon Best

Seems strange to say it but Carroll had his least effective games for us against Samba and Haangeland, yet Best's given both of them a bit of a battering. He's a lot better in the air than I first realised. Yep. Yet I still read from a lot of people he does nowt except score goals. His all round game is very underrated IMO and to say he's just a poacher type is a lazy opinion.

    Leon Best

Only saw football first, but he looked class. Held it up well, won loads of headers against Samba and should have had at least two. Made some quality runs and his quick feet, change of direction, skill etc was superb. Last two games him and Ba have started to look like a quality front pairing. Tin hat on here, but I am wondering at the minute where Hatem fits in? Ba and Besty should not be dropped just yet, both playing really well. For tactical reasons would probably start HBA against Spurs in a few weeks, think Ba will eventually be our first choice striker, but Leon is a good player who seems to be getting better.
  16. Just seen that on the training pics, excellent news. If his knee doesn't flare up again, we really need to get him minutes in another reserve/friendly game, then hopefully get him on the pitch at some point against Wolves, he is also in the Italy U21 squad, so will at least be keeping his match fitness up. Could do with him starting against Spurs and being comfortable in the squad by the time the tough games in November/December come around.

Really? Care to explain further? If anything, I think the bog standard 4-4-2 is going out of fashion, and 4-3-3/4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1 is more popular and arguably more effective.
  20. From the little I've seen of him, this is how I'd like to see him used. Rich is also spot on though, if all goes to plan, the 3 that will play behind Ba or Best will all be capable of playing in all 3 positions and will be able to interchange at will. EDIT: Pretty much what everyone else has been saying. Really should read all posts first

Are those Daily Star quotes from the press conference then? Any mention of him being in the squad Saturday? More smiling and door related quotes
