  1. He wasn't particularly slow with us last year, mind. His touch is a mental thing I think, he does have a "hoofy" style but it can be very good when he is in form. He might look slow, but he is anything but Imo. Once he gets a head of steam up, he goes like a train. In the 5-1 mauling of the mackems he looked quick when he got Titus sent off and went on a really good run early on, class tackle from Bardsley to stop him I think. However, when he needs to manouvere in tight areas or change his pace, burst for 5 yards etc he just looks clumsy and sluggish. Very slow off the mark IMO, if he was a horse, he'd be more suite to big galloping tracks TBH, no tactical speed

  3. Carroll is slow and his touch is very hit and miss, but I would still have him back here mind. We're hardly spoilt for choice up front!
  4. Isn't Garry Cook supposed to be a massive wanker?

Did you see the tackles Crumpy? Sod all to do with him not being able to survive a hard tackle IMO. The two hits he took would have had Vinnie Jones and Neil Ruddock struggling, so hardly surprising to see him keel over. You might be proved right though, but personally I feel it's far too early to be making such claims. The challenges were horrific and a lot of players would have been fucked by them.

Seems to have a good workrate, doesn't look that technically sound, but gets from box to box pretty well. Oh and this

    Alan Pardew

Started this morning on another forum as a wind up, said it a few pages back. Twitter caught wind and then Skybet thought they'd make a few quid out of it.

    Fishing trip on another forum
  9. I see Sports Direct has been stitched into the headrests in the dugout seats as well, looked quality with the club crest. Noticed it before the Arsenal game
  10. In relation to the away end debate, I believe premier league rules state it has to be 3,000 or 10% of the ground's capacity. We should have just increased the away end by 200 seats as oppose to 1,200.
  11. To be honest Rainforest, I think you constantly talk utter tribe :-[ I'll get me coat
  12. I still like the bloke, but I would find it amusing if we dominated QPR, beat them 3-0 and he got played off the park by Cabaye and Tiote. He's a good player and quite interesting on twitter IMO, but he's nowhere near as great as he seems to think he is. Getting a bit tedious I must say.
  13. I didn't think it was quite a 'pay as you play' but I thought it was widely reported at the time his deal was highly incentivised.

Good post, case in point for the first paragraph, Dan Gosling. Everyone I've spoken to after the Scunny game were telling me how shit he is, waste of time not good enough as back up etc etc

Didn't he get called up before the Scunny game? EDIT: http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20110902/watching-brief-for-young-aces_2281670_2439625 Not injured at least

    Sunderland...

Gyan defintely had Nolan'esque love handles when I see him against us in the Ryan Taylor game.

Or maybe the england coach just saw his game against Scunthorpe... Possible. Not seen an update on him, just assumed he was injured and the club are keeping quiet, again.
  18. Ok adding " at all" might be a bit harsh, Ill moderate myself to saying he doesnt have any end-product YET The flick to cabaye was class, admittedly. Hopefully he can follow it up with some more of dat. Setting up the odd ball or two doesnt automatically give you end product, I`ll reserve that term for someone who creates something every time he has the ball. Jonas have on many occations done the same thing, would you also rate him as a player with end-product? If he did, he would be in Real Madrid, not here. Nani has end product, Jonas doesnt. Obertan clearly doesnt either ( although that can very well change , so heres hoping) What I have seen of Obertan tells me we are dealing with a fast and athletic player who can run past people but struggles a bit with getting it "in the box" or that brilliant final pass. If he can get that final piece in the puzzle sorted he is going to be amazing, but hes still a bit off, in my honest opinion only of course. He's played 3 matches for us and has set up at least one clear goalscoring opportunity, or an actual goal per game (albeit technically 'indirectly' against fulham). Whatever way you dress it up as, one thing he's shown so far is that he has some form of a cutting edge. As I said, inconsistent but something he definitely has in his locker, is the ability to play that killer ball. Ashley Young and Charles N'Zogbia are two of the better wingers in this country, yet on occassions they are wasteful and their final ball or shot is useless. If Obertan was just slicing the ball into the first defender or passing it off for a goal kick everytime he had possession (like Jonas when he first played for us) then I'd be worried. As it is, he's shown signs of promise and works pretty hard tracking back as well. Good signs IMO.

Not in the U21 squad last night? I assumed injured again, seeing as he didn't even make the bench against Fulham

    Leon Best

Despite his size, I think Ba could potentially play off Best. Ok so he's not the quickest, but he seems to make or at least attempt much more intelligent runs than the others. 3 or 4 times on Sunday Lover could and should have got on the end of a Best flick on, but he was flat on his heels or just not in the same county as his strike partner. Ba after a massive big bowl of spaghetti washed down with 3 powerades could be the answer. There is the possibilty, he makes more intellignet runs than Obertan for instance, who just stands watching the flick ons. I would like to have someone a bit quicker though to hit on the break and pull defenders wide, so maybe Marveaux could be considered. Until we see Ba up to full speed it's hard to assess him really. I would also like to see Marveaux given a chance playing off the striker, especially away from home. A 3 behind Ba or Best of Marveaux, Obertan and Jonas is a pretty damn good idea, still got HBA to come back as well I think the resident Sylvain Marveaux expert disagrees about him playing centrally though?
