  1. I know this is meant a bit in jest, but in all seriousness it can't have gone un-noticed (the big drop in attendances) Even Ashley and Llambias aren't that blind. Eh? Didn't we get about 47,500 in against Arsenal, 5:30 pm KO live on TV? Then 42,500 in agsint Fulham, 1pm KO on a Sunday and 3500 empty seats in the away end. Should have just extended the away end from 2,800 to 3,000 as it is pointless against the likes of Fulham, Blackburn, Wigan etc.
  2. Aren't personal terms normally agreed first? As others have said, worried by our lack of options at centre back now.

    Alan Pardew

Spot on. Sure I read this somewhere before as well, not sure if it was in the paper or somebody else on this forum mentioning it.
  4. I've sat near some right mongs at SJP, but never heard or seen anything as ridiculous as that. Towards a player who has played about 2 hours of competitive football for us
  5. He's right footed and really is more of a right back than a left back but can play there, getting both would honestly give us one of the best.. dare i say if not THE best defence in the league at least in terms of who we've got starting. However we'll get neither and Ryan Taylor will spend the rest of the season a left-back.
  6. Strikers still are the weakest part of the team by far! All of our forwards are way too similar in style(Shola, Ba, Best, Ranger)...immobile, slow and lazy. Is it really that hard to see what's missing out there? Spend some money on a fast striker with a proven goal scoring record but not neccesarily in the Premier League or any other top flight league. Ishmael Miller worth a try? Wouldn't cost a fortune either... So much to pick apart from that post I am sure people see 'tall, black' and conclude 'slow, lazy and immobile' Beat me to it. It's a pet hate of mine, keep reading that they're similar, when in reality, Ba, Best and Strolla are very diferent players.
  7. Much improved yesterday, good assist and worked pretty hard I thought. Will hopefully get a lot better now as well, doesn't he stop fasting in a few days?
  8. Yep, looks way off the pace. Gets caught in possession repeatedly, which is in stark contrast to last year when you couldn't get the ball off him. Hopefully it's been spotted and they're working on it, I think we're past the point where we can blame his naff pre-season. He's such an important player for us that we need him on form in the games he's available. I know this is getting chucked about every other post regarding Cheik, but isn't he fasting for Ramadan? Certainly isn't his usual self and I don't get how he can go from being so class to so naff.
  9. Stupid foul for the frr kick which led to the goal, and pretty sure both the free headers that Krul saved were because of Simpson ball watching and letting his man get in unmarked. Made a few good tackles and a couple of good forward runs though.
  10. been saying to people for the last week that although he looks small i bet he's an absolute c*** to play against, tough in the tackle, quick to close you down and you know that if he nicks it off you he's gonna find a team mate with it. he should also get a special mention for applauding the fans every time he takes a corner, he obviously is really making an effort to be part of the family. i love him. of course it wouldnt be right if we were to have two outstanding cm's, so tiote's done his part and summoned the spirit of amdy faye for the first few games.

    Leon Best

Thought he bullied Hangeland at times, I also think his game is very underrated. He wins a lot in the air, links up fairly well and has quite good feet, if a bit clumsy at times. He also has 8 goals in 12 games, which is a positive Still don't get why so many fans at the ground seem to dislike him? Would have a few good touches then lay it off to a team mate and certain sections of the ground were up in arms about it and were jeering him WTF is that all about. So many near me with the usual 'Leon Best is fucking shite man, why didn't Pardew take him off' followed by chanting his name when he scored 3 minutes later same fans that would jeer us keeping possession and playing it around at the back as oppose to hoofing it long
  12. Hit and miss going forward, still reminded me of a better Routledge yesterday. Just gets up to speed, then checks and passes it instead of going at the full back. Only went at Briggs a couple of times, but done him late on in the first half. Drifts about a fair bit as well. Very impressed with his tracking back though, made some excellent tackles. Really didn't expect to see that from him.
  13. Never been a fan of his, but to be honest he has looked worse than usual this season, and it would seem that the complications with his little un is affecting him quite badly. Sounds like she's getting better though, so there will be no excuses at QPR
  14. Feisty little fucker isn't he, loves getting stuck in and having a bit of a row with the opposition Nice to have a head up footballer that always looks to get the ball forward. Seems to love the fans already as well, was buzzing when he was running over to take corners, Joey never seemed arsed, Cabaye is far better looking as well You can tell he still isn't quite used to the pace of our game, yet he still looks class
  15. O well, bye Joey. All the best, shame you'll be in the Championship next season.

    Ryan Taylor

Raylor is absolutely shocking in possession. Simpson is bad, but nowhere near as poor as Taylor. Completley disagree on that one mate. Simpson is literally scared of the ball. Actively avoids it and treats it like a hot potato when he gets it. Taylor is an excellent crosser of the ball and passes the ball averagely. he doesn't pass it, he hoofs it up the pitch 9 times out of 10 A bit like Simpson then... Simpson's not much better...but he is better. To me asking who is better or who should play right back, is the equivalent of asking a man if he'd rather nail Heather or Shirley off Eastenders. Pretty tough call, both horrendous.

  18. Exactly what I said when he blazed that over. Think the defender tracking would have stopped it getting to Ba though, not sure. Either way, shit decision from Lover on his weaker foot!
  19. I think we'll be lucky to get Pieters plus a half decent striker. But I would definintely tug my helmet off if we signed Santon as well!
  20. I'd agree. You expect the lower league side to get the rub of the decisions in that sort of game, but the failure to award the penalty was ridiculous. Even Mr Super cool Pardew lost his marbles. It was a very obvious shove in the back and the ref lacked the nerve to give it. The pen decision and the consistency of dishing out yellows were mad. S.Taylor and Cabaye were both booked, both a bit harsh IMO, but understandable. Saw far worse tackles on Raylor and Marveaux go unpunished.
  21. Think it was Cabaye. Makes a change seeing the majority of them come over. Sounds petty, but I used to get so wound up at away games when players like Duff, Owen, Geremi etc used to just trudge off without even acknowleding the away support
  22. This could be resolved by us playing the ball out from the back, instead of hoofing it forward at every given opportunity. Err his kicking out of hand and off the deck was usually spot on. The two clearances, where he panicked and booted it straight to a Scunny player was what I was referring to. But yes you miserable old sod, I agree with you about trying to keep it on the deck.
